Adelaide artist Sarina Diakos, is one of five Etsy artists whose artworks were selected to showcase in a special series of street posters mounted across hundreds of locations throughout Australian cities.
Sarina creates original, abstract paintings in various mediums including acrylic, oil paint, inks and oil pastels on canvas. She sells these and high quality giclee prints through her Etsy shop. Diakos’ work is inspired by “the beauty of nature, the architectural lines of the built world, culture, fashion, music, poetry, books.”
Always artistic, it wasn’t until Diakos’ youngest child (she has three) started school that she enrolled in art school and began dedicating more time to her art. After nearly ten years of study Diakos achieved a visual arts degree and considers it one of the best decisions she’s ever made. Diakos then went on to complete an Honours in Visual Art and a degree in Secondary Education. She also works as an art teacher at a secondary school right here in Adelaide.
Sarina is on of five Australian artists representing the breadth of talent and artistic style available on Etsy who were selected to be showcased in a series of street posters mounted across the cities. After two weeks of anonymous appearance, additional posters outlining where to buy these works and others like them have now been added.
Etsy’s Managing Director for Australia & Asia Helen Souness said that the project was designed to bring Etsy art to unexpected places, showcase the breadth of artistic talent available on the online marketplace and inspire people to find artworks that will suit their spaces, tastes and budget.
“Etsy’s community of Australian creatives includes so many exceptional artists creating and selling works in different styles, sizes and price points,” Souness said.
“We put a call out to our seller community asking them to submit their work to be considered for the project. We then had the hard task of selecting the five artworks to be featured from all the incredible submissions received. Ultimately, we chose five pieces, including Sarina’s beautifully colourful abstract work ‘Awakenings #4’, that reflected the breadth of artistic talent and styles that exist within Etsy’s creative community in Australia,” said Helen.
“We’re excited to have given these artists the opportunity to showcase their work on a scale that’s unprecedented for them, and for Etsy, and to represent the talented creative community who sell on Etsy here in Australia and around the world.”
Prints of all featured artworks are available on Etsy with prices ranging from $30 to $400. Find and buy affordable art on Etsy.com.
