Adelaide Central Market Celebrates First Certified Plastic Free Business

House of Health, known for its health foods, whole foods, and bulk foods, has gained accreditation as a ‘Plastic Free Champion’.

The Adelaide Central Market now has its very first certified plastic free business.

House of Health, known for its health foods, whole foods, and bulk foods, is the business to have gained accreditation as a ‘Plastic Free Champion’.

The ‘Champion’ status is awarded by Plastic Free SA, a project run by national not-for-profit, The Boomerang Alliance.

The ‘Plastic Free Champions’ are businesses within Plastic Free SA’s identified precincts that have reduced their plastic footprint.

According to the not-for-profit’s website, they “set high expectations and don’t give Champion status away lightly.”

In a Facebook post, House of Health confirmed the business is “super humbled” with the achievement, stating, “Even though this is something we’ve been doing for years now, it’s incredible to see the momentum behind this movement, and ‘single use plastic ban legislation’ is paving the way.”
