Choosing new flooring can feel like a surprisingly big decision. It needs to look good, work with the rest of your home and, perhaps most importantly, stand the test of time.
If you find yourself in that boat, struggling to decide, Mile End Flooring Xtra has your answer, with its newly launched exclusive flooring collection, Aspecta.
The exclusive Aspecta Collection brings together premium luxury vinyl and hybrid flooring in a range of XL plank, Chevron and Herringbone designs. But what makes the new collection particularly interesting is the choice behind each colourway. Unlike most collections, all 10 colours are available across six different flooring specifications, allowing homeowners to match the aesthetic they love with the technical requirements of their space.
According to Aspecta Flooring Australia Managing Director Ken Knight, the range has been developed by one of the world’s leading LVT specialists under parent company HMTX. Aspecta Flooring Australia itself is independently owned and operated, with Ken bringing almost four decades of experience in the Australian flooring industry.
“The Aspecta range provides the highest quality products with beautiful designs,” said Ken. “Probably the most distinguishing feature of the Flooring Xtra range is that each of the ten colour ways comes in six different versions.”
That means homeowners can choose a look that suits their space while also considering practical requirements and budget.

The LVP ranges are available in plank and Herringbone designs in both 2.5mm and 5mm thicknesses. Both are glued directly to the subfloor, providing a secure and stable installation. Compared to the 2.5mm option, the thicker 5mm option offers greater underfoot comfort and improved in-room acoustics.
The hybrid flooring range takes a slightly different approach, with the underlay attached during manufacturing and Aspecta’s proprietary Isocore core providing what the company describes as superior locking performance.
It can also accommodate larger continuous floor areas without requiring intrusive transition mouldings, up to 200 square metres in a house or 900 square metres in a commercial setting.
But for homeowners, the appeal of the Aspecta Collection is likely to be just as much about the look as the technical details. Herringbone and chevron flooring have become increasingly popular among renovators looking to add personality and a more elevated feel to their interiors.
“Many homeowners are looking to create living spaces that suit their individual taste and, in many cases, to set their space apart from the norm,” said Ken. “This can add value to homes financially, but also adds to a sense of home as a reflection of personal style. The use or combined use of planks, herringbone and Chevron can give choice in expressing that style. Herringbone in particular is increasingly popular as it provides a sense of tradition and individual style.”
The collection also covers a broad colour palette, from the deeper, moodier tones of Ladoga and Brienz through to the caramel tones of Macadamia and the coastal-inspired Como and Onega.
A new colour, Leamington, is set to join the range in September, combining a traditional oak colour with a clean aesthetic designed to complement sleek, uncluttered interiors. There are also blackbutt and spotted gum designs for those wanting to bring the look of Australian timbers indoors.
The collection has also been designed with busy households in mind. Aspecta flooring doesn’t use phthalate plasticisers and features a Duraspect polyurethane coating designed to provide scratch and stain resistance. The flooring also comes with a 20-year manufacturer’s warranty.
According to Ken, the wear layer has a performance specification comparable to flooring used in high-traffic retail environments, meaning it is designed to handle the demands of family life. That balance between design and practicality is something the team at Mile End Flooring Xtra knows well.
Co-owner Levi Skliwa shared, “What sets us apart is our tailored expert advice. The team helps customers choose the right product based on lifestyle, design preferences, budget and practicality. With the business owners knowing the local market well, we have a strong local reputation for providing a high standard of professional supply and installation.”
It is the same tailored approach that has helped shape the Mile End showroom since it opened on Sir Donald Bradman Drive.
With more than 35 years of combined flooring experience between Levi and co-owner Zac Halliday, the pair have created a space where customers can sit down, compare samples and talk through the practical and design considerations before making a decision.
The Aspecta Collection fits neatly into that philosophy, offering plenty of room for homeowners to create something distinctive without having to sacrifice performance.
So for anyone staring at a blank floor and wondering where to begin, the advice from the Mile End Flooring Xtra team is simple, start with how you live and then work from there.
