Ministry of Sound converges with Adelaide Symphony Orchestra for one night of reimagined hits

Dance music fans and live music connoisseurs alike will be delighted to hear of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra’s upcoming event in November.

Dance music fans and live music connoisseurs alike will be delighted to hear of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra’s upcoming event in November — celebrating the most beloved dance floor moments of the last 30 years, rearranged, remixed and reimagined.

Featuring classic dance hits from the likes of Fatboy Slim, Moby, Eric Prydz and Robert Miles, the collaborative event has sold out shows across the world, including London’s Royal Albert Hall and the Sydney Opera House.

Now closer to home, the Adelaide event will feature Adelaide’s own DJ Groove Terminator (GT), a warm-up set from DJ John Course, and home-grown artists Montaigne and Adrian Eagle.

“Book the babysitter, wear your best dancing shoes and expect to be dancing from the first song until the final encore!” GT said. “It’s one of the most exhilarating shows I’ve been involved in, the feeling I get being on stage surrounded by these incredible musicians playing some of my favourite tunes of all time is just an incredible rush.

“It’s an incredible experience — I come off stage with the biggest grin and the biggest endorphin rush every night we perform.”

The orchestra and DJs will also be accompanied by homegrown, lead vocalists, Montaigne and Adrian Eagle.

“I’m expecting it to be pretty loud and epic,” Montaigne said. “I’ve always imagined it feeling transcendental and euphoric, so that’s what I hope to feel.”

Montaigne was unearthed by Triple J in 2012, and she most recently represented Australia in the semi-final of Eurovision earlier this year.

Meanwhile, Adrian Eagle garnered widespread acclaim for his breakout singles 17 Again and the ARIA nominated AOK, as well as his guest appearance on the legendary Hilltop Hoods ARIA award-winning single, Clark Griswold.

He said he was excited to be performing with the orchestra in his hometown, and believed the performance would be an iconic moment in his career.

“I am so looking forward to playing with the iconic ASO,” he said. “I feel honoured and excited by the opportunity. Their amazing performances and ‘restrung’ recordings with my big brothers Hilltop Hoods will forever be legendary.

“I am thankful for the opportunity to perform together in Adelaide.”

The ASO said their performance conditions would be related to the instructions of SA Health at the time. They hoped dancing would be possible, however they expected masks would be mandatory unless seated.

The event will take place on 7:30pm, Friday 26 November at the Adelaide Showgrounds. Adult tickets for the event start from $49, children from $19, with VIP packages also available for purchase.
