Adelaide is set for a wet and wintry stretch, with rain arriving today, a brief sunny break on Sunday, then several more days of showers through to the end of the working week.
Saturday is the soggiest start of the run, with a cold front pushing across South Australia and bringing widespread rain to Adelaide. The city has a forecast top of 18 degrees, with between 9 and 25mm possible, and a 100 per cent chance of rain.
The one clear break comes on Sunday, when Adelaide should enjoy a sunny day with a crisp start. After a low of 8 degrees, the temperature will climb to 17 degrees under mostly settled conditions.
That calm patch doesn’t last long. Cloud returns on Monday, along with a very high chance of showers, most likely during the afternoon and evening. Adelaide is expected to reach 19 degrees after an overnight low of 11, with northeasterly winds adding a bit of bite to the air. Tuesday stays cloudy and damp, with another very high chance of showers and a slightly milder top of 20 degrees.
By Wednesday, the unsettled pattern really settles in across the city. Showers are again very likely, with rainfall totals of 3 to 15mm possible and a top of 20 degrees after a low of 14. Thursday brings partly cloudy skies but little real improvement, with showers still highly likely and temperatures dropping back to 17 degrees. Friday looks much the same, if not a touch colder, with cloudy skies, more showers, a top of just 15 degrees and northwesterly winds picking up to 20 to 30 km/h.
