When we think of a South Australia wine trail experience, our minds may automatically shift to the Barossa Valley, but there’s one happening closer than you may think.
Semaphore in the winter marks a shift from picnic season to a more cosy and relaxed atmosphere. With the start of winter, the charming coastal town is calling wine enthusiasts to take a trip down the main strip for their Winter Wine & Dine Walk.
Hosted by Clever Little Picnic, the Winter Wine & Dine Walk, will take you across some of Semaphores best food and drink spots all within your own speed.
“The main street takes on a different personality during the cooler months,” Jasmin from Clever Little Picnic said.
“This experience has been designed to encourage visitors to explore Semaphore Road, discover local businesses, and enjoy a relaxed afternoon of food, wine and coastal charm.”
Beginning at boutique cafe Clever Little Picnic you’ll grab an alcohol-free welcome drink or coffee and pick up your Winter Wine Passport which guides you from destination to destination and is your ticket into each handpicked venue.

Clever Little Picnic, 46a Semaphore Rd and Korked, 6 Semaphore Rd

Sweet Amber, 67A Semaphore Road
Just a stone’s throw away is the second stop, Sweet Amber, a venue born in Semaphore and much-loved for their craft beer, pizza and lively atmosphere.
“Guests can enjoy a glass of wine from their range of red or white wines but also beer lovers have the option of sampling a craft beer tasting instead.”
So, be sure to bring your passport along from stop to stop, settle in for a drink or bite to eat, and enjoy each space at your own pace.
Heading back across the street, the third venue is a European inspired patisserie, well known for their great brunch and fancy dessert offering.

52 Frangipani Café & Bistro, 52 Semaphore Rd
At 52 Frangipani Café & Bistro, settle in for a winter lunch paired with the perfect glass of wine before making your way to the final destination.
With a newly launched winter menu, the welcoming corner café is best known for its unique fusion of “Malaysian flavours and French culinary influences,” making it an inviting place to warm up, linger over lunch and watch the world go by.
Closer to the shore, but no further than a hop, skip and jump away, is Korked Wine Bar. Overlooking the Semaphore foreshore, the quirky wine bar is where guests will enjoy their final tasting experience of the day.
Korked Wine Bar boasts one of Semaphore’s most spectacular views, overlooking the jetty and foreshore.
It’s here you can enjoy tastings of a nice Hugo Shiraz or Sidewood Sauvignon Blanc, soaking up the last of the Winter Wine Walk.
“Winter is when Korked truly shines, offering a warm and cosy interior where visitors can settle into a comfortable couch and watch dramatic winter weather roll across the coastline,” Sandy from the Korked team said.
It doesn’t have to end there though. For those wanting to make an afternoon of it, Semaphore Foreshore has plenty to explore, from a beachside stroll to a ride on the historic carousel or steam train.
The whole offering comes with a curated trail and tasting notes to help guide you through the Winter Wine and Dine walk.
Winter sessions are intentionally limited, running from the first weekend of June through to the final weekend of August, so book your passports now.
