Adelaide weather forecast for Saturday June 6 and the days ahead

Here’s what you can expect for the June long weekend and the week ahead.

Adelaide is heading into a mostly settled week, with cool but pleasant winter days on the way before showers return around the middle to end of the week. For locals, that means a fairly easy start to June, with light winds, a bit of cloud at times, and a gradual lift in daytime temperatures before wetter conditions creep back in from Wednesday.

For the rest of Saturday, Adelaide is looking partly cloudy with a medium chance of a passing shower, though rain is expected to ease later this afternoon and into the evening. It’s a cool top of 17 degrees for the city, Elizabeth, Glenelg and Noarlunga, while Mount Barker is tipped to stay slightly cooler at 16. Sunday keeps that calm pattern going, with partly cloudy skies, the chance of morning fog, and a light breeze. After a chilly start around 10 degrees, Adelaide should reach 18 degrees in the afternoon.

Monday shapes up as the pick of the early week weather, with sunny skies and light winds becoming north to northeasterly during the morning. Another cool start is expected, with a minimum of 11 degrees, before the city climbs to 18. By Tuesday, Adelaide stays mostly sunny and turns a little warmer, reaching 21 degrees under north to northeasterly winds of 15 to 25 km/h. It should still be dry across the metro area, making it the mildest day of the week.

The change arrives on Wednesday, when cloud builds and showers become more likely, especially during the morning. Winds will pick up from the north before turning northwesterly, and temperatures are expected to range from 14 degrees overnight to a top of 19. Thursday looks a little mixed, with partly cloudy skies and the medium chance of another shower later in the day. Conditions should stay fairly similar temperature-wise, with a minimum of 9 and a maximum of 18.

By Friday, Adelaide’s run of mostly dry weather gives way to a wetter finish, with cloudy skies and a high chance of showers across the city. Falls of 1 to 15 mm are possible, which could make for a damp end to the working week. The city is forecast to dip to 11 overnight before reaching 18 degrees during the day.

Across South Australia, the broader pattern is being driven by a high pressure system moving east, which is helping keep much of the state relatively dry through the long weekend and into early next week. On Saturday, isolated fog patches are possible over agricultural areas, while light showers about the southern agricultural area contract to southern coasts later in the day. Sunday remains mainly dry apart from isolated light showers about southern coasts, with fog possible in central and eastern districts. Monday continues the dry spell for most districts, though winds will freshen in the west. By Tuesday, those northerly winds strengthen ahead of a weakening cold front, with isolated showers developing about the far west and the northeast. Rainfall totals through to the end of Tuesday are generally expected to stay below 5 mm in the southern agricultural area, the northeast and the southwest, though isolated falls of 2 to 10 mm are possible.

Boaties along Adelaide Metropolitan Waters can expect relatively calm conditions through the next few days, with seas below 1 metre through Sunday and Monday. Winds stay light over the weekend before freshening to 15 to 20 knots from the north to northeast on Tuesday, with seas increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres south of Port Noarlunga during the afternoon.
