Adelaide’s only plus-size fashion market returns with 35+ stalls and a ‘Fatwalk’ fashion parade

SA’s favourite plus size market is back with bold style, big vibes and a celebration of inclusive fashion.

Adelaide’s first and only plus-size fashion market is returning this September, bringing more than 35 size-inclusive fashion, pre-loved and food stalls together for one big celebration of style and community.

double. will take over Maronite Hall at Westbourne Park on Sunday, September 20, with clothing spanning sizes 16 to 30+, interstate and South Australian designers, pre-loved treasures and the return of its crowd-favourite “Fatwalk” runway.

Founded in 2022, the volunteer-run event was created to give plus-size shoppers something that can still be surprisingly hard to find: the chance to browse, try on and buy clothes in person, while surrounded by a community that understands the experience.

This year marks the sixth double. market, with local brands including Curvature, Six Times Seven, Violet Designs, Stacy’s Craft Adventures and What’s That Then joining interstate labels Oh Ramona, Less Common, Sanct and Bekeane.

Committee member Maddi Williams said the event had become much more than a shopping day.

“Our body shapes are under more scrutiny than ever, so holding an event like double. feels like a joyous and supportive act of rebellion,” Maddi said.

“The day is so special. We have folks coming from all over SA and interstate to experience the joy of not only being able to shop in person, in your size, but to also get amongst the excellent community vibe.”

The market will also feature its second “Fatwalk”, with members of the local community taking to the runway in pieces from participating designers.

The team says the name is intentional, reclaiming a word that has historically carried stigma and turning the runway into a celebration of confidence, fashion and diverse bodies.

Alongside fashion, visitors can expect local food and drinks from vendors including Neighbourhood Baker and Swizzle Drinks.

“For us it’s about making new friends, finding new designers to obsess over, building community and generally having a killer time,” Maddi said.

What began as a fashion market is also beginning to grow beyond its original format, with the team exploring more social events throughout the year for Adelaide’s plus-size community.

double. is free to attend and the venue is fully accessible.
