Someone in Adelaide is sitting on a Lotto ticket worth more than $2.2 million — and there’s a good chance they have no idea.
A mystery South Australian player was one of nine division one winners nationally in Saturday X Lotto draw 4709 on Saturday, September 5, scoring a life-changing $2,222,222.23.
The winning ticket was purchased from Mawson Central Newsagency at Mawson Lakes, but because the entry wasn’t registered to a player card or online account, officials have no way of contacting the winner.
It means anyone who bought a ticket from the Mawson Lakes outlet ahead of Saturday night’s draw is being urged to dig it out and check the numbers.
Mawson Central Newsagency owner Elizabeth Dreimann said the team was thrilled to discover it had sold another division one winner.
“You beauty! We’re celebrating with plenty of excitement and sending our very best wishes to the winner,” Elizabeth said.
Remarkably, it is the newsagency’s third division one winning ticket in just three years, following its most recent jackpot winner in December 2024.
And with the draw falling on the eve of Father’s Day, Elizabeth said there was even a chance the winning ticket had been bought as a gift.
“There’s every chance someone may have purchased this ticket as a Father’s Day gift, and what an awesome surprise that would be,” she said.
The Lott spokesperson Matt Hart said the winner could still be going about their normal routine without realising they had become Adelaide’s newest multi-millionaire.
“There’s a very good chance our mystery winner has no idea they pocketed more than $2.2 million in the weekend’s Saturday X Lotto draw,” he said.
“If you bought an entry from Mawson Central Newsagency for Saturday’s draw, now is the time to pull it out and give it a careful check.”
The winning numbers were 40, 27, 17, 43, 5 and 38, with supplementary numbers 2 and 39.
Nine division one entries shared the jackpot nationally, including three in New South Wales, three in Victoria, two in Western Australia and the sole South Australian winner.
So far in 2026, 25 division one prizes have been won by SA Lotteries customers.
