Bergs Late Night Burgers sets up shop on Bank Street

Coming from the group behind Bank Street Social and Recess, the stationary pop-up takes over Recess’ spot from 11am to 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.

Your burger cravings are now sorted thanks to a new go-to spot for weekend lunch, dinner, or late-night feasting.

Bergs Late Night Burgers has set up shop on Bank Street to sling burgers to hungry customers. Coming from the group behind Bank Street Social and Recess, the stationary pop-up takes over Recess’ spot from 11am to 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.

The eatery serves just five burgers, which all have Simpson puns for names (think Krusty Burger’s cheese and meat-flavoured sandwich). However, Director Simon Orders warns there’s “no ‘Ribwich’ yet though.”

The most popular dish is the Bergs ‘original’ double with fresh ground beef, special sauce, lettuce, American cheese, fresh onion, and tomato on a toasted potato bun.

Orders says their straightforward, quality menu is perfect for their passerby.

“We’re focused on offering a quick ‘grab ’n’ go’ feed, late on the weekends, for the bar hoppers and footy crowds,” he says.

The burger place, which is sandwiched between Maccas and Hungry Jack’s off Hindley Street, is a great place for a post-drinking snack. The director says the Bank Street Social team ideated Bergs Late Night Burgers after seeing their popular venue’s customers hankering for a late-night meal.

“I found it was usually a long wait to actually get something to eat late after a night out at Bank Street Social; It can take so long to get served past midnight and the area doesn’t have a local fast take-away brand,” Orders says.

“Plus, I thought I could make a better burger than Maccas… I did work at one back in the day!” he says.

Bergs Late Night Burgers is slinging burgers every Friday and Saturday, and they will also be on the delivery services soon.
