Every now and then a new café comes along that is different from the rest. Yes, it serves great coffee and has friendly staff but there is just something else about it that makes it special. Café de Sage is the perfect example.

Ideally located at the top end of Grange Road in Allenby Gardens, Café de Sage opened their doors in January this year and has been impressing customers ever since. With their all-day brekky menu as well as lunch items, they also boast a large array of drinks from smoothies and juices to frappes and gourmet milkshakes.

So, what sets this café apart? It all comes down to the food. Following the heritage of its owners, Café De Sage offers a Middle Eastern flair with everything made in house. That’s right! From the dips to the marinated meats, almost every menu item is made from scratch on-premises.

“It’s what makes us unique.” co-owner Alla Rezayi explains. “You can’t get our food anywhere else because it’s all made right here by us with our own family recipes”.

Alla opened the restaurant alongside her mother with the dream of sharing their love and passion for food with others.

“Our style is home-cooking,” Alla says. “It’s good, honest food that we love to eat in a way that we love to eat it. It’s made to be shared, like you would at home, picking and sharing and enjoying each other’s company. Food to us is more than just eating, it’s about connection.”

With their Middle Eastern background, the family infuse these flavours into their every meal and the good news? Beginning this Friday, April 22nd, Café De Sage will be open for dinner!

In true Middle Eastern style, the dinner dishes are plentiful and made to share. Think a massive grill board filled with a variety of meats, dips and bread all of which are handmade with love by the family themselves.

There are also loads of vegan and vegetarian options with their spiced roast eggplant and zaatar zucchini fritters almost too good to pass up even if you are a meat-eater!

“Opening for dinner was always the end goal,” says Alla. “Since opening for breakfast and lunch back in January we’ve had a really great response from the local community and we’re so excited to be able to share our passion with them through our dinner service.”

Café De Sage is located at 1/119-123 Grange Road, Allenby Gardens
