Time for Kids, a program run by Relationships Australia SA, has launched a fundraising event encouraging South Australians of any age to camp out for a cause on the October long weekend – October 2 – 4, 2021.
Participants in Time for Kids Camp Out can choose to camp in teams or solo in a location of their choosing, be it the backyard, lounge room or anywhere across South Australia. At a time when many are looking for COVID-safe family friendly recreational activities, Time for Kids Camp Out is the perfect opportunity to enjoy some outdoor or indoor fun whilst raising funds for a very worthy cause.
Funds raised will enable the program to continue to match children with volunteer carers and mentors. Time for Kids volunteers provide opportunities and experiences that are not available within a child’s existing family and social networks. Since 1960, Time for Kids has matched and assisted over 5000 children and young people under 17.
Currently, over 80 isolated children in Adelaide are on the waitlist. Time for Kids Camp Out is vital in supporting the program capacity to increase.
“By participating in Camp Out and helping the Time for Kids program, you’ll be changing children’s lives by equipping them with the skills to better cope with life’s challenges,” said Diarmid Lee, Relationships Australia SA board member.
The major issues for children referred to Time for Kids are social isolation, abuse and neglect, poverty, poor selfesteem, and domestic violence. Having access to these new networks provides a supportive environment with healthy relationships, physical activity, and skill development opportunities.
“The Time for Kids volunteer family made me feel like I belonged. They were caring, they listened and helped me to build my confidence,” said Katie, a child in the Time for Kids program.

Register yourself or a team and set a fundraising goal before midnight Wednesday September 29 th, 2021. Registration includes your very own printed Time for Kids Camp Out Guidebook which offers more than 30 fun and creative missions and activities to complete in your guidebook while you camp out.
The complimentary 44-page booklet contains camping location suggestions all over South Australia, as well as ideas for camping at home. There are fundraising tips, checklists to get you prepared, and three days of creative and educational activities, fun challenges, and journal pages to keep everyone busy and happy. Additional guidebooks are available to purchase for $6.00 each.
