Ah, the great outdoors! Whether you’re an avid nature lover or not, you can’t deny that Adelaide at this time of year, is a great place to be. So for those living in the fab newly developed area of Bowden (and everyone else really) the following is some pretty great news.
Bowden’s fabulous apartment living, with a huge focus on Green Energy and sustainability, is a testament to the future of housing; but the teeny downside (if we were forced to pick one) is that not everyone can have a huge front yard for their kids to play in, or just to lay on the grass and sip on a vino in the evening (although you can manage that on one of the many spacious apartment balconies, so really it’s not a huge loss). However, for those who like to feel the green stuff between their toes, the City of Adelaide has heard your pleas.
Thanks to Adelaide City Council, City of Charles Sturt and Renewal SA the area of Park Lands across the road from Bowden has had a whizz bang makeover. To celebrate the official opening of the upgraded Park Lands, they’re throwing a party… and we’re all invited!
The evening is set to be fantastic with the new Minister for Housing and Urban Development, Stephen Mullighan cutting the official big red ribbon at 4.30pm (Please note: there may not actually be any ribbon, if there is it may not be red. So don’t hold us to that!) Then the festivities will begin.
With live music to treat your ears and performances from Bowden’s local legends Cirkidz and Adelaide Fringe’s A Bus Full Of Art stopping by to treat your eyes, almost all your senses will be taken care of. But what about treating those tastebuds?
They’ve got that MORE than covered with the legends at Fork On The Road joining forces for a very special Fork In The Park. So there will be 23 food trucks serving up delectable treats for you to choose from. That should keep you satisfied!
On top of all that there will be family friendly activities too. Including Dig A Dino, PLAI space teaching juggling, poi, hoop and various circus skills, a bubble show from Mr Oopy- Children’s Entertainment and much more.
The upgrades will mean the area has more trees, more BBQs and more shady seated areas, new tennis, basketball and bocce courts and a new skate area too. They even made sure to consult while planning to make sure they got the design just right! Now that’s dedication.
We can’t wait to see it in all its glory… and scoff down as much SA food as possible at the same time.
