Cool off at some of SA’s best pools and waterparks

The warm weather is in full swing, and Adelaide is overflowing with a refreshing assortment of pools and waterparks—check out our guide here.

The weather is warming up as we’re heading away from winter, and it’s time to hit the deep end! Luckily Adelaide is overflowing (pun intended) with a refreshing assortment of pools and waterparks. So throw on the boardies, smother yourself in sunblock and grab your thongs, it’s time to dive in!

The Arc – Campbelltown

The Arc has something for everyone. Perfect for families with an indoor kids splash zones and waterpark with a relaxation area as well as lap swimming pools, sauna and an adults chill area.

Barossa Caravan Park – Tanunda

After all that drinking and wine touring, it’s high time the kids do something they want to do! Head to the splashtacular waterpark at the Barossa Caravan Park. There is so much the young ones will love at this park including three huge slides, a pumping selection of splash zones and one big old tipping bucket. Adults can seek refuge in the Caribbean cool cabins.

The Beachouse Glenelg

The famous Beachouse in Glenelg has got you covered. Their beloved indoor spaces provide shady relief, and their three waterslides take fun to the next level for kids and adults alike. As well as water-based activities, The Beachouse offers a smattering of entertainment such as mini-golf, dodgem cars, play castles and arcade games. Peckish? They have plenty of ice cream and indulgent food to devour.

Beachside Holiday Park – Normanville

The waterpark, which launched in 2020, is a supreme jungle-themed extravaganza and in a prime summer location for the young (and the young at heart). Featuring kooky slides, dumping buckets and SO much water, this fun site is the biggest of its kind across any SA caravan park. With the beach only five minutes away you can easily hop between the two.

The Big Wedgie – West Beach

Go west for the best this December till April with The Big Wedgie! The Big Wedgie is the world’s tallest freestanding inflatable waterslide. Standing at 18.2 metres tall and 82 metres long, the slide boasts a 55-degree drop with three lanes. Those who fancy something a little less extreme can take on The Just Right Wedgie and young ones can have some splashing good fun on The Little Wedgie. Make sure you lather on the sunscreen for this one!

Edithburgh Tidal Pool – Edithburgh

If you’re more of an ocean swimmer and looking for a natural swimming pool, head to Edinburgh Tidal Pool. Sitting in the Yorke Peninsula, in the Southern town of Edithburgh, the pool has undergone a number of facelifts over the years and is now a beautiful recreational area for everyone to enjoy!

George Bolton Swimming Centre – Burnside

Reopening next Saturday, George Bolton Swimming Centre offers an experience in the countryside like no other! As well as three heated pools available for your swimming needs, the site provides playgrounds and BBQ facilities if you’re up for lunch in true Aussie style. Or simply grab some grub from the kiosk. Don’t forget to get your post-work swim in when the temperature exceeds 32 degrees, as the centre will remain open for an extra hour!

Marion Outdoor Pool – Park Holme

You’re looking at a huge outdoor centre with three pools, two waterslides, a super-fun splash park and large lawned areas with plenty of shade. This is for serious swimmers as well as your average visitor because of its 50m salt chlorinated, eight-lane, heated Olympic Pool. There are also two completely shaded smaller pools that are specially designed for the little ones to gain confidence and a love for water when swimming their first laps. The grounds are floodlit so that even on a hot evening, the pool can be enjoyed.

Next Gen – North Adelaide

SA Aquatic and Leisure Centre – Marion

The SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre boasts world-class aquatic facilities, and accommodates all those who wish to play, train, perform and of course, eat. The indoor Splash Park, suitable for ages 10 and under, features small slides and the ‘Big Bucket’, which is bound to keep the little ones amused. However, if slides aren’t your cup of tea, there’s a variety of indoor and outdoor pools.

Splash Town – Moonta Bay

This free community water park has slides, a large tipping bucket and other water features to keep the kids cool and entertained during the heat! The park will reopen this upcoming school holidays and will open its doors daily at 10 am until the 28th of April.

Tusmore Wading Pool – Tusmore

Open seven days a week in the summer months, Tusmore Wading Pool is a sanctuary for toddlers to make friends and get out in nature, while splashing about and roaming the spacious pools of Tusmore Park. The park offers a fully fenced wading pool, an additional lagoon pool alongside a moderately larger pool, water fountains and a great lawn area for your little ones to explore.

Unley Swimming Centre, Forestville

The Unley Swimming Centre is great if you’re on the hunt for a low key swim, offering a 50 metre pool with eight lanes, and two fully shaded junior/toddler pools. Disability access is also provided, with a lift into all three pools. If you aren’t stopping by for an early morning dip, be sure to pack the sunblock for this one!

Waterworld Aquatic Centre, Ridgehaven

Returning on the 3rd of October, Waterworld is the North-East place to be. Take in the South Australian serenity among the gum trees, and relax with your family or friends in their heated pools, or dare to take on the water slides. If you’re a serious swimmer, feel free to swim laps in their 50m pool or paddle around in their learners pool if you’re just starting out. For those who love parkour, be sure to take a shot at their all new 15m inflatable obstacle course, the AquaRun! If you’re not a swimmer, that’s all good – you’ll still be able to stay cool on the Splash Pad, a kind of human-safe water feature for those who aren’t a huge fan of the deep end.

Blue Lake Holiday Park

Take a journey to Mount Gambier and venture to Blue Lake Holiday Park, situated right next to one of Australia’s most famous landmarks, The Blue Lake. Reopening in October, the 1950s styled Norwood Swimming Centre will be back to share its dreamy, old-school Australian setting with all who swim there. Containing a pool going to 50 metres deep, a shaded toddler pool and inflatable obstacle course, there is bound to be something for everyone. From its huge shady gumtrees to the BBQs scattered throughout the centre, Norwood Swimming Centre provides a traditional Aussie swimming experience like no other!

Adelaide Hills Swimming Centre

Out in nature and family-friendly, Adelaide Hills Swimming Centre knows how to turn up the heat with its three heated swimming pools and hot showers. With additional shaded medium and toddler pools and half-shaded 25 metre pool, there are pools for everyone in and out of the sun (mostly). Disabled facilities are also available for those who require assistance as well as a team of friendly lifeguards on site.

Murray Bridge Swimming Centre

Take a splashing start into the October school holidays with a ride on the Supaslide and a dip in the deep blue pools of Murray Bridge Swimming Centre! Boasting a 50 metre pool with an accessible ramp, a half-shaded medium learners pool, and a fully shaded small toddler’s pool, the facility has a variety of pools for swimmers of all skill levels. For the daredevils, a fantastic Water Play Park awaits with five waterslides for kids, fun water features for toddlers and a massive 48 metre SupaSlide for teenagers and adults!
