Essential travellers from NSW VIC & ACT prohibited from passing through SA

South Australia Police announced this morning that there have been changes to the exemptions of travellers passing through South Australia from several states across the nation.

South Australia Police announced this morning that there have been changes to the exemptions of travellers passing through South Australia from several states across the nation.

People trying to enter South Australia from New South Wales, Victoria or the Australian Capital Territory as an Essential Traveller passing through to another state are now prohibited.

People wanting to pass through SA must now apply for a Health Exemption and have that approved before completing their Cross Border Travel Form and attempting to enter the state.

This is not for those Essential Workers in other classifications such as Commercial Transport and Freight. For more information regarding this, visit the COVID border restrictions website here.

This announcement comes following an overnight release of new exposure sites in SA from SA Health, associated with positive cases of COVID-19 in Ceduna and Port Augusta.

It’s believed this new alert relates to two truck drivers who brought Covid from NSW to WA, after the 23 and 29 year old men underwent routine freight-driver testing in NSW on Wednesday. Following their tests, the men travelled to WA via Victoria and South Australia, before arriving in Perth on Thursday night.

While both men wore masks outside of their truck, and both had one dose of COVID-19 vaccines, SA Health is urging people to be vigilant.
