Folkloria music picnic festival returns to McLaren Vale in time for Spring

The festival, which celebrates all things roots, blues and folk music, will return to McLaren Vale’s Simon Hackett Winery this October.

As one of the only festivals in the world to debut and sell out in 2020, Folkoria is making its triumphant return in 2022 for its third consecutive celebration of world-class folk music.

Hosted at Simon Hackett Winery in McLaren Vale, the folk, blues, and roots picnic festival will take place on Sunday 30 October – providing a non-spooky alternative to your Halloween plans.

Folkloria has attracted many a successful artist and adoring fan, earning it a nomination as a finalist in the 2021 Best Small Festival/Event in the South Australian Music Awards.

The festival has just now unveiled its new stellar line-up, providing talented South Australian musicians with the opportunity to perform and connect with interstate industry-leading artists.

Not only will onlookers be able to hear the musical delights of artists such as Mason Lloyde, Kyle Lionhart, and Jess Ribeiro, but local food trucks will also be serving up incredible eats.

Chimichurri Argentinian Grill will be dishing out loaded fries, chorizo rolls, vegan burgers, kids meals and even steak for the meat lovers. For something lighter, you can grab salad noodle bowls and dumplings at the Sooki La La street food stand or homemade pizza from Mattia’s Pizza.

Want something more lowkey? Ticket holders can also roll out picnic rugs and bring their own food to enjoy. Folkloria is also dog friendly, so feel free to bring your pooch if they will settle on a lead.

The bar will serve Simon Hackett wines, 23rd Street gin & tonic, 23rd Street vodka & soda, vale ale beers, Adelaide hills cider, and assorted soft drinks.

If you’re thinking about how to get to and from Folkoria, there’s two options. You can either hop on the handy return bus service offered to guests that departs from Gilbert Street Hotel at 10:30am. Priced at $30 per person, it’s a great option that negates the need for designated drivers.

Alternatively, free parking is available at Simon Hackett’s neighbour property, Tipi Lane. If you want to make the experience even more memorable, there’s an option to book a giant tipi for the event! Get in touch with Tipi Lane for more.

So, gather your mates, bring your flower crowns, and book your tickets quick for this sunny Spring afternoon filled with music, food, and good times.
