Fringe Review: Lewis Garnham: You Can’t Always Get What You Want

Lewis Garnham: You Can’t Always Get What You Want is your typical comedy show where the comedian deals with a problem thinly veiled with a reference to something that they keep referring to for a standard laugh and in this case it was the Rolling Stones song You Can’t Always Get What You Want.

A good one for Open Mic Comedy Night fans

Lewis Garnham: You Can’t Always Get What You Want is your typical comedy show where the comedian deals with a problem thinly veiled with a reference to something that they keep referring to for a standard laugh and in this case it was the Rolling Stones song You Can’t Always Get What You Want.

The material was funny enough and provided laughs, however it is no doubt suited to a specific type of audience. Sentences such as ‘I went to the forest to have a massive acid trip’ followed by ‘I work in After School Care’ would leave most with an uneasy feeling and after listening to how many drugs Lewis currently takes some audience members would be begging him not to have the hypothetical children his set is based around.

If you like drug filled stories and comedy that skips a bit all over the place, then it is a great show. However, if you like a bit more of a well thought out start to finish clean comedy routine then probably give this one a miss.

The Drama Llama at the Rhino Room really suits this show with its dark basement feel and the early time slot gives you plenty of time to walk to later shows elsewhere.
