Get Yourself In For Brunch At The Inn

This (more than a) pub is a stunning display of old meets new, and with the new including a delicious breakfast menu, we are all over it…

On a stunning Spring morning there’s nothing quite as lovely as taking a drive through the hills. With the sunlight trickling through grand old trees and leisurely winding roads it’s like something from Audrey Hepburn movie, or at least that was our glorious experience whilst heading towards the Inglewood Inn this past weekend.

Inglewood Inn

This fabulously historic Adelaide pub has been keeping visitors happy in the hills since 1857! With renovations completed by the current owners, the Howell family, this (more than a) pub is a stunning display of old meets new.

We chose to sit on the balcony on this beautiful, warm morning to indulge in our brunch. Overlooking the ancient oaks, elms and gum trees on the property the sunshine speckled the spot with light. Below on the lawns a happy couple ran through their wedding rehearsal for the coming week.

We were informed that since their renovations the Inn has become a favourite wedding location in the hills. As we watched over this picturesque moment, it wasn’t hard to see why. It was almost as if they were placed there just to add to the fairytale feel of the whole place.

Anyway, moving on from my vivid daydreams of my future nuptials beneath those very trees, we delved into the menu.

The selections consisted of a combination modern twists on brekky classics. We opted for the Baked Egg which was a glorious prosciutto wrapped avocado filled with a soft egg, topped with fresh tomatoes, haloumi and chilli; and the Chilli & Avocado Eggs boasting smashed avocado with fresh chilli, feta, pickled radish, poached eggs rolled in panko crumbs with toasted ciabatta. We also got a glimpse at the indulgent Croque Monsieur and Belgians Waffles. It took much internal strength (and our credit cards giving us a dirty glance) to not say ‘One of everything please, waiter’.

Our choices, however, did not disappoint! Each was packed with an abundance of flavour and the alternative touches like the panko crumbed poached eggs were exciting additions to your standard breakfast menu. We’d classify the Chilli and Avocado Eggs as the lighter option, with the Baked Egg certainly more for those with a big gap to fill.

We could’ve easily lazed all afternoon absorbing the ambience of this place and indulging in mimosa after mimosa, but alas one of us had to get us all back down those scenic winding roads safely.

Next time we will be having these Chocolate Chip Belgian Waffles with Hershey’s chocolate syrup and ice cream.

If you’re looking for a charming spot to enjoy a leisurely breakfast, definitely head toward the Inglewood Inn. Even as the months begin to cool the industrial strength outdoor heater here works a wonder, making you feel as though it’s easily still the middle of January. And even when mother nature isn’t being so kind, cosying up next to the indoor fire and watching the rain fall outside is magical from the restaurant.

We spotted the lunch menu upon our departure and thought it best to have a glance. If the sound of a whole wheel of oven baked camembert wrapped in prosciutto, with fresh thyme and rosemary, served with lavosh doesn’t have you running for the hills we don’t know what will!
