There aren’t many occasions that warrant shutting down an entire laneway of the CBD but World Gin Day is definitely one of them so that’s exactly what is going to happen.

On Saturday June 11th, AKA World Gin Day AKA the most glorious day on the events calendar, Gilbert Place will be closed to the public and transformed into a celebration of all things gin with a street party to rival all street parties. Get ready for the Gilbert Place Gin Carnivale.

Kicking off from midday, join fellow gin fanatics in tastings from local and international distillers either straight up, blended with the classic tonic or get yourself a bespoke gin cocktail.

Gilbert Street locals Hains & Co, Memphis Slims and Shotgun Willies will be getting involved in the action holding masterclasses run by gin gurus while DJs and dancers roam the streets for your entertainment.

While it may be an afternoon affair, the fun doesn’t stop once the sun goes down. In fact, that’s when the party really starts. Turning into ‘Dark Party’, Gin Carnivale will morph from a vibrant daytime festival into a wickedly indulgent evening soiree. Think Moulin Rouge meets Mad Hatters Tea Party with roaming performers, fire breathers and of course, more gin to take you well into the night.

As Australia’s unofficial gin state, it is our duty as South Australians to celebrate this sacred day in a way that only we can and show our deep appreciation for the beloved spirit.

The Gilbert Place Gin Carnivale is just one of the many initiatives by ADL Unleashed as they aim to bring the vibe back to the streets of the CBD after the impacts Covid-19 had on the hospitality industry and particularly business within the city.

Tickets for the Gilbert Place Gin Carnivale are $15 which covers both the day and ‘Dark Party’.
