Harry’s Deli celebrates 10 years of championing local flavours with a one-night anniversary feast

Harry’s Deli is marking a decade of seasonal dining with a one-night-only anniversary dinner celebrating the region’s producers, premium wines and the chefs who helped shape its story.

A decade ago, McLaren Vale’s Wirra Wirra opened the doors to Harry’s Deli with the simple idea of bringing together great South Australian produce, exceptional Wirra Wirra wines and a relaxed atmosphere where people could settle in for a long lunch without the fuss. Now, ten years on, that philosophy remains the same.

Since opening in 2016 as part of a major redevelopment of Wirra Wirra’s cellar door, Harry’s Deli has grown from a casual winery eatery into one of McLaren Vale’s standout dining destinations, earning a loyal following for its produce-focused menus and connection to the region.

To celebrate the milestone, Wirra Wirra is hosting 10 Years at the Table, a special one-night-only dinner on Saturday, August 29th.

Taiaha Ngawiki, Tom Boden and Rob Kolencik

The anniversary event will see former Harry’s Deli chefs Rob Kolencik and Tom Boden return to the kitchen alongside Head Chef Taiaha Ngawiki for a multi-course menu celebrating the restaurant’s journey and the producers who have helped shape it over the past 10 years.

For $170 per person, guests will enjoy dishes including cured kingfish with blood orange, Wagyu Scotch fillet with Madeira sauce, and Harry’s signature crispy fried duck, each paired with premium Wirra Wirra wines, including museum vintages and current releases.

Originally known for artisan charcuterie boards, local cheeses, and freshly baked sourdough paired with estate wines, over its ten years in business the restaurant has evolved into a full dining experience while staying true to the values on which it was built.

Today, diners are welcomed into a setting surrounded by organically grown vineyards, green lawns and towering gumtrees, with menus that celebrate the changing seasons and the incredible network of growers, farmers, fishers and artisans that call South Australia home.

As Taiaha now leads the kitchen, he focuses on an ingredient-first approach that highlights the Fleurieu Peninsula and Adelaide Hills. Estate-grown herbs and vegetables feature throughout the menu alongside sustainably sourced seafood and premium local produce, creating dishes that feel both refined and deeply connected to place.

As for the wine, guests can explore the winery’s celebrated McLaren Vale reds and Adelaide Hills whites through carefully curated food pairings, while museum releases offer the chance to experience how some of the region’s benchmark wines have developed over time.

So if you’re looking to try Harry’s Deli, the 10 Years at the Table: A Celebration of Harry’s Deli event is not just a celebration of the past decade, it’s a toast to the growers, winemakers, chefs and diners who have helped make it one of South Australia’s favourite winery dining experiences.
