Historic Riverland quarry transforms into one of Australia’s most spectacular dance floors this November

Sounds in the Quarry is returning for its biggest festival yet, bringing a huge line-up of Australian DJs to one of the country’s most extraordinary live music venues.

For one day each year, a historic limestone quarry in the Riverland is transformed into what has become one of Australia’s most unique electronic music festivals.

Sounds in the Quarry is returning on Saturday, November 14th, with organisers promising its biggest and most ambitious event yet.

Now in its fourth year, the festival has grown from a bold regional idea into one of South Australia’s standout electronic music events, attracting dance music fans from across the country to the historic Overland Corner Quarry.

Presented by SAREZ and the Overland Corner Hotel, the festival combines world-class electronic music with a remarkable natural setting.

Festival-goers will dance beneath towering limestone walls inside the 180-year-old quarry, surrounded by rock formations created more than 150 million years ago. The fossilised quarry forms a natural amphitheatre, providing a dramatic backdrop where immersive lighting, sound and large-scale production perfectly contrast against the rugged landscape.

Each year, Sounds in the Quarry has continued to grow, with larger crowds, expanded production and increasingly impressive artist line-ups helping build its reputation as a bucket-list event for electronic music lovers.

This year’s festival will feature DJs from across Australia, delivering a full day and night of electronic music in the heart of regional South Australia.

“When we first imagined holding an EDM festival inside this incredible quarry, we knew it had the potential to become something special,” shared Brad and Nicole Flowers, custodians of the Overland Corner Hotel.

“Four years later, it’s incredible to see people travelling from all over Australia to experience live music in such a unique location. Teaming up with SAREZ again has allowed us to take the event to another level, and 2026 will undoubtedly be our biggest and best festival yet.”

Local promoter SAREZ added, “The energy this venue creates is unlike anywhere else. Every year we push the production, the artists and the experience even further, and this year we’re delivering our strongest line-up and biggest show to date.”
