Immerse yourself in the depths of the ocean with Ouchhh Studio’s free Illuminate installation

Now showing at Light ADL until the end of July, Ocean Data is just one of the many fun activiations happening at the multi-purpose venue.

As the City of Churches lights up for Illuminate Adelaide, Light ADL becomes a vital space for lovers of creativity.

This July sees Adelaide transforming into a kaleidoscopic beacon of light and creativity as part of the annual Illuminate Adelaide celebrations. While the entire city is transformed into a hive of activity, it’s the Light Square venue that is set to feature some of the most iconic and unmissable events on offer.

Showing from the 15th – 31st of July, Ocean Data is by the creators of Wisdom of AI Light, Ouchhh Studio, however unlike the showing in Illuminate Pavillion, Ocean Data is completely free.

Created using millions of pieces of data sourced directly from underwater bases across the globe, Ocean Data is a living AI sculpture of maritime proportions, and invites patrons to immerse themselves in the deep ocean as part of this temporal experience integrating art, science, and technology.

Alongside the free installation, Light ADL is also playing home to a number of Illuminate related events throughout July under its roof with The Lab offering a special co-curated program in which light and sound converge across four electric weekends, sharing some of the most cutting-edge musical experiences from both local and international artists.

This month’s celebrations will also result in The Lab finally being used to its full potential, utilising 50 square metres of LED screens to provide intricate and immersive experiences from the artists sharing their works as part of the Illuminate Adelaide roster.

The Lab’s July lineup for Illuminate Adelaide is set to be one of the most diverse and immersive selections of events on offer anywhere, with the rest of its lineup featuring events from the likes of Sunbeam Sound Machine, a two-night globe-trotting Grand Tour from the Seraphim Trio, and a slick performance from Sydney pop artist Kota Banks.

A new pop-up bar has also opened at the all-in-one venue serving as the perfect place for a drink before or after your viewing or, if you’re so inclined, a meal at the adjoining Aurora Restaurant is never a bad idea.
