Hyde Park-based Mosmo Living, is making a mark on the national stage as the only South Australian business named as a finalist in the prestigious Dulux Colour Awards.
The Dulux Colour Awards, now in their 35th year, recognise creative and innovative use of colour in residential, commercial, and public settings and invite entries across Australia and New Zealand.
As a finalist in the residential interiors category, Mosmo Living has been recognised for its stunning use of colour, in the place the owners call home… and work!
Melissa Drew and Rowan Edwards, together with their dream team, renovated their home and workplace on King William Road, Hyde Park during 2020/21. They bring a unique approach to the design, build and construction process in South Australia – designing from the inside out.
Melissa, a qualified interior designer and licensed builder, says she discovered the demand for this approach early on.
“KWR, which has been nominated as a finalist for the Dulux Colour Award, is the Mosmo Living workplace; display space and most importantly our home,” Melissa said.
“We worked from the inside out to ensure it was functional but also beautiful and calming – a home that we’re proud of and love to spend time in”.
Using colour creatively, played a very important part in the design process.
“We used colour to distinguish new from old through subtle contrasting and chose the feature colours from a copper gradient – from soft pink to muted terracotta – creating a visual link between key design elements. We have carefully balanced the old and new, maximised floor space and created an interior that is filled with natural light, is earthy and spacious”.
“The painted gable ceiling with earthy undertones, the texture in joinery and plastered brick walls, together with specifically selected lighting gives our home a luxurious, warm finish”.
“Renovating this heritage 1900s villa was the perfect test of our creativity and construction expertise,” Melissa said.
“Beautiful custom furniture and a window seat highlighting the outdoor area along with the clever addition of almost furniture-like storage throughout the home, makes it easy to keep the place organised.
“Being short-listed as the only South Australian finalist is such an honour and truly recognises how carefully we considered and delivered this project, which is so close to our hearts,” she said.
The winner of the Dulux Colour Awards will be announced on 31 August 2021.
