Late-night burgers, R&B music and candy-themed cocktails could soon be much closer to home, with Milky Lane expanding into Adelaide’s suburbs.
Between the constant spinning of throwback tunes, celeb mural walls and insta-worthy menu, Milky Lane has mastered the art of serving up a social experience with a side of fries and Adelaide has been loving the vibe.
Co-founders Christian Avant and Shane Fitzgerald say their focus is on making the burger joint more accessible, giving people an easier way to drop in without having to navigate the city. Adelaide’s new venue will be part of the franchise’s expansion, seeing 26 locations pop up nationally over the next four years.
Christian and Shane understood from the get-go that diners are hungry for “wow” moments beyond just the plate. That’s why the menu leans into full indulgence, with stacked burgers, candy-coated cocktails and milkshakes that are more art than drink. Each menu item is designed to be seen, shared and talked about long after the plates have cleared.
“I want people to just go, ‘this is like a food wonderland,'” says Christian.

But the food is only part of the appeal, as just one step into the burger joint transports customers back to a simpler time: when TLC and Usher ruled the charts and when flip phones were all the rage. This is exactly what Christian and Shane set out to create when developing Milky Lane.
“I wanted everything to be a throwback,” down to their first shots that were Warheads and Nerds themed, reminiscent of childhood candy favourites.
There is no denying the role social media plays in where people choose to dine. And while running the brand’s social media, Christian has witnessed how important these elements have become to connecting people to the food, and more importantly, the experience.
“People eat with their eyes … I like our social media to be visual and fun and aesthetic.”
While interactive and tech-driven entertainment are a consideration throughout this expansion, Christian is wary not to lose what defines the venue.
“I don’t ever wanna lose the human touch of Milky Lane.”
He continues that at its core, the human-to-human connection carries the warmth, nostalgia and quirkiness that shapes the Milky Lane experience.
More details on the new location are still to come, but Milky Lane is ready to keep feeding Adelaide’s appetite for experience-driven dining.
