NOLA teams up with local makers to launch limited whisky series

NOLA Adelaide has teamed up with local makers and a released its very own limited edition whisky, teaming up with local makers and artists.

Way back in 2018, NOLA teamed up with The Exchange as part of its whisky program, sourcing and recoopering ex-Seppeltsfield port barrels.

Over the past few years, NOLA has been aging spirits from various distilleries in these seasoned barrels, behind the back bar in NOLA and in the subterranean cellars of The Stag Public House.

Now, after years of patience, they are ready to release them to the world. Each of these whiskies is completely unique, like nothing else in the world. The location of age, the size and sourcing of the barrels and the distillation of the spirits have all contributed to the finished products.

When NOLA set out to launch this program, they wanted to create a series of whiskies that have each been impacted by our venues. From every song our artists have played to every person who has walked through our doors, all of this has had an effect on the final product.

“People have been playing with how whisky ages with temperature and sound for many years,” says Venue Owner, Oliver Brown.

“Distillers have been playing music and sonic sounds to vibrate the whisky, so it has different contact with the wood which makes it age faster.”

NOLA has always been about supporting the little guy, so to bring this limited release alive, they have enlisted the help of four local creatives. They paired each of these unique whiskies with a local artist or maker, encouraging them to create a label that heroes their own unique style, while capturing the essence of the whisky itself, and of course, the spirit of NOLA and New Orleans.

As part of this limited release of whiskies, you’ll find labels created by Dave Court for the Single Malt Whisky from Tin Shed Distillery Co, Vans the Omega for the Single Malt Whisky from The McLaren Vale Distillery, Stuff by Glad for NOLA’s American Blend, and Yeah Dope for NOLA’s American Blend.

Venue manager, Jamie Fraser says “Reflecting on the last 4 years, a lot of time and care has been put into developing our four whiskies in a way that has brought out the best in each of them.

“Each whisky was treated uniquely, and with care (and given lots of attention), with tastings occurring every 6 months to track progress and make required changes while they rest. We had a lot of fun producing these whiskies – we’re sure you’ll enjoy them too.”

Nola is a New Orleans inspired bar and eatery located in the heart of Adelaide, with a focus on creole and cajun soul cuisine. They believe in supporting the little guy and seek to tell their story and promote their products.

A love for high-quality products, they aim to sell and share them  with others. Over time NOLA  has learnt the importance of its impact on the environment and strives to create a minimal impact business across all areas. Throughout it all remains the humble mantra of New Orleans, “laissez les bon temps rouler!”
