South Australians making a difference in their communities are being given their moment in the spotlight, with nominations now open for the 2026 Governor’s Multicultural Awards.
The annual awards celebrate the individuals, organisations and teams helping create a more culturally inclusive and connected South Australia, recognising contributions across community service, business, the arts, education, media and more.
And you don’t need to wait for someone else to put your name forward. South Australians can nominate a colleague, community leader, volunteer, organisation or team — or nominate themselves.
Across 10 categories, the awards recognise contributions from metropolitan Adelaide and regional South Australia, spanning everything from emerging young leaders to long-serving volunteers.
The categories for 2026 are Outstanding Individual Achievement, Regional Achievement, Arts and Culture, Community Sector, Media, Private Sector, Public Sector, Volunteer, Senior Volunteer and Youth.
There is also a particular focus on the role regional communities play in shaping South Australia’s multicultural identity.
The Regional Achievement Award recognises individuals and organisations strengthening inclusion within regional communities, while eligible regional nominees entered into other categories will automatically be considered for the award.
Minister for Multicultural Affairs Nadia Clancy said the awards were an opportunity to recognise South Australians whose work may otherwise happen quietly behind the scenes.
“Every day, South Australians are strengthening our communities by fostering inclusion, understanding and belonging, and these awards recognise the difference they make,” Minister Clancy said.
“If you know someone making a positive contribution to multiculturalism in our community, I encourage you to nominate them so their efforts are recognised and celebrated.”
Nominations close at 11pm on Sunday, November 1, 2026.
