Paolo Sebastian shines on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet

Stunning gowns from Paolo Sebastian’s latest collection, The Wild Swans, have appeared on the 2022 Cannes Film Festival red carpet.

The Cannes Film Festival is one of the most renowned and exclusive film festivals in the world, and the designs of Adelaide-based label, Paolo Sebastian, have glittered the red carpet.

Iconic Paolo Sebastian founder, Paul Vasileff, announced his latest collection The Wild Swans in March 2022, featuring exquisite fairytale-esque pieces.

The thirteen-piece Wild Swans collection was inspired by the Danish fairytale written by Hans Christen Anderson and is a homage to the act of selfless love, the courage of the voiceless and the beauty found within every day. You can read more about the collection here.

Two Wild Swans designs were worn on the Cannes Red Carpet by two internationally recognised models, Megan Blake Irwin and Chloe Lloyd.

“We were approached by Megan and Chloe,” said Paul. “They mentioned they were going to Cannes and really loved those looks. We had worked with Megan before because she had modelled for us, so we had a really good relationship with her and were very exciting to work with her again.

“We had a chat about measurements and what’s going to be a good fit for their shape and colouring. In this case, the outfit that they approached us about were the ones I was hoping to showcase anyway.

“I felt that the two dresses really told the story of the collection as they were the key pieces.

“This is our first big red carpet in a long time – evening wear and couture is what we’re known for so to be back doing them again is great.

“As a kid, I grew up looking at festivals like this, so to see my work on the red carpet is a wonderful and humbling feeling.”

Megan Blake Irwin wore look PSSS2212 – an ostrich feather ball gown with a tulle belt.

The Adelaide-born model has previously been photographed for Harper’s Bazaar Singapore, Vogue Australia and Japan, Guess, David Jones, Kookai, GQ Magazine, Trussardi, and Seafolly.

Irwin also served as the muse of the Seduce x Disney collaboration, Alice in Wonderland, photographed by Vogue China Editor and Chief, Margaret Zhang.

Irwin notably had an on again off again relationship with Scott Disick from 2016 to 2020, and also had a brief relationship with Scream and Riverdale star, Skeet Ulrich.

Chloe Lloyd wore look PSSS2202, which depicts a Wild Swans scene with cloud cutwork embroidery.

Chloe Lloyd is an English model, who most-notably has appeared on the magazine covers of Elle Portugal and Norway. Chloe has also modelled for Cosmopolitan, Brides, Marie Claire, Glamour, and Vogue.

The 75th Cannes Film Festival took place from 17 to 28 May, and featured a tribute to Tom Cruise, whose film Top Gun: Maverick premiered at the festival.
