If you haven’t heard of Farmers Leap Wines, here’s the quick low-down: Farmers Leap is located in Padthaway on the limestone coast only three hours away from Adelaide. The property has been in the owners Scott Longbottom and Cheryl Merrett’s family for 3 generations and they’ve won awards for their 2013 Brave Shiraz, 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon and their 2013 Fortune Shiraz! The range of wines are full bodied, genuine, earthy and full of flavour – basically what we’re hearing is they’re damn delicious.
The night really touched on what Farmers Leap is all about – strong flavoursome wine that is creative, vibrant, light and full-bodied tasting. Full of warmth and colour to add to any meal! The dishes from COS 18 was heaven sent, strong rich flavours and mouth-watering meals fit for royalty! Here’s a taste of what we experienced…
Oysters aren’t everyone’s cup of tea. You might love ’em. You might hate ’em. Either way… the fresh oysters paired with the Random Shot Sauvignon Blanc (2016) was the perfect way to kick off the night. The second course was the Riverland Pork with creamy butternut sauce and jus – YUM! This was teamed back with Farmers Leap 2014 Chardonnay. It was a truly delightful meal with tender juicy goodness and crunch, an intense and flavoursome meal that I wish I could have had more of.  Third course was a generous plate of Hayley Valley Lamb, baby vegetables, fondant potatoes and jus. This was a heart-warming meal full of earthy vegetables. That keeps you wanting more! Sitting alongside it, a Farmers Leap Cabernet Sauvignon 2014.  The fourth and final course was a very enticing cheeseboard to share with creamy, rich Tellaggio Soft Italian Cheese, Cave aged cheddar, plump grapes, fresh crisp apple, toasted almonds and plum paste – DELICIOUS! Team this with a Farmers Leap 2012 ‘The Brave’ Shiraz and you’ll be laughing.
COS 18 is really perfect for any occasion, a few wines with the girls, a nice four course dinner, platters and wine and perfect date nights set here! With summer coming up COS 18 is the place to go.
