Rundle Mall Prepares For Biggest Retail Event Of The Year

With tens of thousands of South Australian’s heading into the city for all of the bargain hunting magic, there’s no denying that Rundle Mall has become a Boxing Day tradition. There is nothing quite like it.

With tens of thousands of South Australian’s heading into the city for all of the bargain hunting magic, there’s no denying that Rundle Mall has become a Boxing Day tradition. There is nothing quite like it.

Opening at 9am on Boxing Day, Rundle Mall Management Authority General Manager Johanna Williams says it is definitely the retail event of the year.

With discounts on everything from dresses, suits and shoes, to handbags, accessories, homewares and electrical, you are bound to find the perfect bargain.

“It’s always one of the busiest days of the year in Rundle Mall and this year the discounts range up to the order of 70% off, and we’ve got two hours of extra shopping with our 9am opening,” says Ms Williams.

And trust us, you will need these extra shopping hours.

“As the saying goes, the early bird catches the worm, so we think there’ll be plenty of South Australians foregoing the sleep-in to capture a bargain or two.”

With more than 1000 retailers ranging from independent local and national brands to international brands like H&M and Nespresso, Apple and Tiffany, Rundle Mall truly has it all.

South Australians are expected to spend $1.2 billion between December 26 and January 15, delivering a 3.1% increase over the same time last year with Ms Williams expecting that to deliver a boost to city retailers.

“We’re anticipating the addition of H&M to the Mall last month will be an added drawcard, alongside the wider ranges and capsule collections available from the major retailers’ flagship city stores,” says Ms Williams.

To add to the Boxing Day fun, Rundle Mall also has loads of fantastic prizes to be won through the ‘Rundle Mall Shake It’ app.

All shoppers need to do is be in the Mall and shake their phone for a chance to win a $1000 voucher every hour between 9am and 4pm from David Jones, Myer, H&M or Haigh’s Chocolates. Those who ‘shake it’ will also go in the draw to win a major prize of a Mitsubishi ASX complete with a year’s registration and free parking at UPark. So be sure to download the app!

There is also a DJ at the Gawler Place canopy and a ‘kids zone’ near Stephens Place, where junior shoppers can take some time out with mum and dad.

So there you are. Everything is sorted. All you need to do now is head on down from 9am to score some amazing bargains. Best of luck!
