South Australian pastry chef Jeremy Allan, Owner of Urban Desserts, has been crowned the 2024 Pastry Chef of the Year at the ACADA Australasian Cake Oscar Awards.
“It was incredible, it was such a surreal moment,” Jeremy Allan says.
“I didn’t expect it, considering we were up against pretty famous Australian pastry chefs. It was great to be recognised for what we do, especially being in Adelaide, which is a smaller city.”

The ACADA Australasian Cake Oscar Awards, held in Brisbane last month, recognises cake decorators, cookie artists, chocolatiers, and pastry chefs who are the best in the business. The awards honour their exceptional work and innovation within the dessert field.
The award of Pastry Chef of the Year is initially community-voted before it goes to a panel of esteemed judges where different factors are assessed, including the chefs character, and their performance based on the votes they received.
Now that SA’s Jeremy Allan holds the title of 2024 Pastry Chef of the Year, it’s hoped it will not only give Urban Desserts’ more visibility across South Australia, but across the country.

Jeremy Allan rose to fame in 2016 after he competed on The Great Australian Bake Off. From there, Urban Desserts was created and became a home-based venture for Jeremy that started in 2018, before it expanded into its first storefront in 2020 at Morphett Vale.
Although Urban Desserts also previously had a store in Glenelg, rising costs led to its closure. Now, the team operate out of a kiosk at Noarlunga Centre, specialising in elegant French-style desserts, particularly petit gateaux and mousse-based cakes, known for their incredible attention to detail and flavour.
Excitingly, Urban Desserts are about to open their second location in Elizabeth – keep up to date via their social media for more details!
