SNEAK PEEK: New restaurant and bar HNLY, is coming to Henley Beach

Set to open on Tuesday November 16, HNLY will be serving up the freshest seafood and local produce along with glorious drinks and stunning seaside views.

Your restaurant offerings at Henley Square are about to get even better with HNLY joining the clan this month.

Glam were invited to a sneak peek of the new stunning venue designed to bring you to the balmy balconies of Europe.

Set to open on Tuesday November 16, the restaurant and bar will be serving up the freshest seafood and local produce along with glorious drinks and stunning seaside views.

HNLY will be located upstairs above Estia Greek Restaurant, giving guests elevated views of the vibing square.

The new restaurant is brought to you by George Kasimatis of George’s on Waymouth along with Peter Louca and Angela Papas of Diaspora Kouzina and Loucas Restaurant.

HNLY will bring the esteemed knowledge of all three iconic Adelaide restaurateurs to the one location for the ultimate seaside eatery.

Angela said they initially planned to open a Greek restaurant in Norwood. However once this opportunity in a prime location presented itself they changed direction, whilst still leaving the door ajar for a Norwood opening in the near future.

After much deliberation the team decided to go with a Mediterranean menu in line with the European style interior.

“We are focusing heavily on local fresh produce, mainly SA sourced,” Angela said.

“We are working directly with some of Australia’s leading seafood suppliers including fisherman Chris Bolton in QLD.”

“Chris fishes late afternoon and by morning its shipped so that at lunch we have the product ready to serve – that’s less than a 12 hour turn around.”

The Glam team have been given a sneak peek of the menu which will be cooked by head chef Ricardo Plazola from Allegra Dining Room, who has the support of Grant Schooling from Loucas Restaurant.

Whilst the menu has a main focus of seafood, it’s paired nicely with meat and vegetarian options too. For starters you can look forward to Coffin Bay oysters, NZ Ora King salmon with pickled jalapeño and Tasmanian salmon pate with olive crumb.

Larger dishes include mouth watering Greenslade’s roast chicken, Port Broughton blue swimmer crab spaghettini and fried cauliflower with ricotta.

There’s a generous dessert offering which includes the HNLY summer berry Eton mess and rhubarb tart with red wine caramel meringue.

Walking upstairs to the restaurant, guests are transported across the world into a casual sophisticated European eatery with the interior design by Genesin Studio.

“You feel like you’re in Europe with limestone and travertine used across the space,” Angela said.

“The whole aesthetic is very neutral.”

The vast space is separated by a roof to floor fireplace feature, along with a generous bar serving up cocktails and wine with a focus on South Australian producers, as well 23rd Street Distillery as the house gin.

The corner location is filled with tall windows that overlook the square and the lively beach streets where diners will be able to look over the pristine beach and jetty, lively atmosphere of the square and neighbouring eateries.

The powerhouse combination of restaurateurs will no doubt leave palates satisfied and crowds flocking for a night by the sea at the new destination that will take the suburb of Henley to another level.

HNLY will be located at Henley Square, Henley Beach SA.

It will trade seven days a week from midday.
