A taste of some of Australia’s most exciting chefs is coming to Adelaide this winter, with Rosemont Hall launching a brand-new Winter Chef Takeover Series that will bring acclaimed interstate culinary talent to South Australia for exclusive one-day-only events.
The new series kicks off on Sunday, July 19th, with celebrated Sydney chef Big Sam Young taking over the Rosemont Hall kitchen for a single lunch service, giving diners a chance to experience his sought-after cooking all at one of Adelaide’s quirkiest venues.
Chef Young has built a loyal following through his Sydney restaurants Young’s Palace and S’more Bistro, earning a reputation for his bold, contemporary take on Cantonese cuisine. For his Adelaide debut, he’ll be joined by his fiancée, Grace Chen, as the pair transform Rosemont Hall’s kitchen for the afternoon.

Diners can expect a specially curated multi-course menu inspired by the flavours and dishes that have made Young’s Palace one of Sydney’s most talked-about dining destinations. The $110 per person experience also offers the chance to upgrade with premium additions like Young’s signature Lobster Noodles, Wagyu steak and caviar.
On the menu is Hokkaido Sea Scallop, 2GR Wagyu Tartare, Sweet & Sour Pork Ribs, Melon Salad, Roasted Glacier 51 Toothfish, Sweet Corn & Chilli, S’more Fried Rice, Wok-Fried Broccolini, Seaweed Tapenade and Thai Milk Tea Crème Caramel.

Rosemont Hall owner Aaron Ratanatray said the concept was created to give South Australians access to exceptional dining experiences while encouraging collaboration between Adelaide’s hospitality scene and some of the country’s leading chefs.
“Rosemont Hall has always been about celebrating great food and bringing people together around the table. With the Winter Chef Takeover Series, we wanted to create something that Adelaide doesn’t see very often: bringing some of Australia’s most exciting chefs into our kitchen to share what they do best,” said Aaron.
“Big Sam Young was the perfect chef to launch the series. His food is bold, exciting and full of personality, and we’re thrilled to be bringing the flavours of Young’s Palace to Adelaide for the very first time.”
Aaron hopes the concept will become a regular fixture on the city’s culinary calendar, with more visiting chefs set to be announced throughout winter.
“Our vision is to make Rosemont Hall a destination where diners can experience incredible chefs from around the country without having to jump on a plane. We hope this is the beginning of a series that continues to grow and brings something genuinely special to Adelaide’s dining scene.”
With just one lunch service planned and limited seats available, the first takeover is expected to sell quickly, making it a must for anyone keen to sample one of Sydney’s hottest culinary talents right here in Adelaide.
