There are few people who can bring a room filled with Winter Reds revellers to a standstill, but last year, when Matt Preston made an appearance at some Adelaide Hills wineries, that’s exactly what happened.
Despite a ridiculous itinerary and a seriously early start, Matt brought an unmatched energy into each venue, along with his unmatched style. Groups of fans edged over to the popular Chef and TV star, hoping to soak up some of his vibrancy, perhaps sneak a selfie, or better yet, have a chat, and Matt generously obliged.
Well this year, you can do one better and have a seat at his table, for lunch with the man himself.
The food writer, television personality and 2026 Winter Reds Festival Ambassador is heading to Golding Wines on Sunday, July 26th to host Preston’s Plates, an exclusive lunch celebrating the very best of Adelaide Hills food, wine and hospitality.
The all-inclusive experience will see Matt team up with celebrity chef Warren Mendes and Golding Wines Head Chef Evert van Niekerk for a shared feast cooked over fire and inspired by the warming flavours of winter.
Throughout the afternoon, Matt will join guests at the table, share stories and lots of laughs, as his unmistakable personality will fill Golding Wines’ converted barn.
Known for his colourful cravats, encyclopaedic food knowledge and years judging MasterChef Australia, Matt has become one of the country’s most recognisable food personalities.
“We’ll chat… We’ll laugh a lot… We’ll eat some tasty new collab dishes cooked up by me and the team at Golding Wines and drink some delicious Adelaide Hills wines picked by Toney Love,” shared Matt. “I might even do some of my famous meerkat impressions again. That’s my long lunch at Golding as part of the Winter Reds Festival.”
Preston’s Plates is one of the signature events on this year’s Adelaide Hills Winter Reds Festival program, which celebrates the region’s world-class cool-climate red wines through a series of winery experiences, tastings, live music, long lunches and fireside gatherings.
“As far as long lunches go, this is one you don’t want to miss,” shared Golding Wines co-owner Lucy Golding. “Delicious food, wines from across our region and the ever-entertaining Matt Preston. We can’t wait to host this day of food and festivities in our barn; it’s what we do best up here.”
With limited seating available and demand sure to be high, the Golding team are encouraging guests to book early. Those wishing to sit together are advised to purchase tickets in the same transaction, as seating requests cannot be guaranteed after booking.
