There’s a new Hutt Street tattoo studios that Adelaideans looking for their next inking need to have on their radar.

Opening in late 2020, Day One Tattoo was founded by tattoo artist James Cooper and experienced studio manager Karen Hubbert, upgrading their space after first opening a studio together in Eastwood in 2019.

‘Day One’ was inspired by the special relationship between artist and client, creating a powerful moment in someone’s life: the first day of their lifelong body art.

The trendy fit out welcomes customers into a raw and industrial space from the moment they step in the door, complete with natural timbers and exposed concrete as well as an abundance of greenery bringing more natural elements into the space.

Making sure to provide cosy soft furnishings, the space has a relaxed, calming environment designed to relax any pre-tattoo nerves as well as presenting a modern space Day One’s experienced artists can now call home.

Day One’s two resident artists, James Cooper and Joel Van Miltenburg, have over 15 years of experience between them, making sure you’re in safe hands for your tattoo, whether its your first inking or a new addition to a decorated sleeve. As well as their apprentices Jordan Best and Lily Munday, the studio is constantly welcoming some of Australia’s freshest tattoo talents with the guest space in their studio currently occupied by experienced artist, Lacy Dawn.

The customer-focused studio makes sure to go the extra mile for their clients, offering a range of refreshments in their cosy waiting room from soda and coffee to everyone’s favourite Biscoff biscuits. If you fancy binging some Friends to calm your nerves, or popping on a movie whilst having a large piece completed, every artist’s private studio is decked out with Netflix to keep you entertained (or distracted!)

Customers don’t have to worry about pulling any wincing expressions mid-inking, with each artist and client given their own private room or pod, giving you your own mini studio so you can fully concentrate on collaborating with the artist to create your body ink, perfect for any inkings in a more private spot.

With their experienced artists in extremely high demand, eagle-eyed customers need to keep their eye out for new appointment spots that are often posted on Instagram, with spaces snapped up quickly by those eager to visit the cool studio.
