‘Voices of Christmas’ Debuts In Rundle Mall With Ricki-Lee

The inaugural Voices of Christmas returns to Rundle Mall showcasing 10 days of live and digital performances.

Rundle Mall is the heart of our city and this festive season it is being transformed into the epicentre of a sensory Christmas experience that you will have to see to believe.

The inaugural ‘Voices of Christmas’ program runs over 10 enchanting days, with over 100 hours of performances, and is a first of its kind nationally. Taking place on a dazzling showcase stage under the Gawler Place Canopy, ‘Voices of Christmas’ will include live and digital performances from an array of choral voices from across South Australia – and as far away as Port Augusta.

Rundle Mall Management Authority (RMMA) General Manager, Amanda Grocock, is delighted to introduce another innovative and exciting event to the South Australian calendar; particularly at a time when community is at the forefront of our minds.

“Christmas can be a difficult time for many, but it also a time to come together and feel apart of something. ‘Voices of Christmas’ can do exactly that. And of course, it adds interest and vibrancy to all who visit, work or shop in the city at this special time.”

“We are proud to present ‘Voices of Christmas’ in conjunction with SA Power Networks, and to have been able to draw together an ensemble of highly regarded musical and theatre directors to curate what is sure to be a captivating and magical program of events.”

Carl Crossin (Musical Director), Andy Packer (Artistic Director) and Leko Novakovic (Novatech Technology) have together produced a program featuring more than 30 local and regional choirs of all ages and backgrounds with over 500 voices, further reinforcing Adelaide’s impressive position as the first and only UNESCO City of Music in Australia.

“Singing is a wonderful way for people to participate and feel a part of something special at this festive time of year. I am thrilled to be playing a part in bringing together a wide variety of communities and choirs to share the magic of this captivating musical program,” said Musical Director, Carl Crossin.

Andy Packer describes the creative vision for the show as one that plays homage to Christmas nostalgia complemented by Australia’s superb and distinct landscape.

“Native foliage and colouring will adorn the heart of the Mall reflecting the genuine bright and balmy Australian summer; and the musical performances will include an assortment of traditional Christmas Carols and songs that everyone can sing along to.”

Across the ten days of the program, the ‘Voices of Christmas’ zone will be transformed into a hub of Christmas entertainment and activity featuring a pop up cafe, family activities and activations.

“Whilst the beauty of professionally trained voices is undeniable, it is always a priority that our visitors can take part in the the action too” said Ms Grocock.

Adjacent to the activity zone will be an interactive ‘Christmas Music Box’ station, giving shoppers the opportunity to create their very own digital Christmas video to share with their friends and family, including a classic Christmas backing track and the chance to win a host of great prizes.

“As an organisation, the RMMA is committed to delivering unique and fun experiences for all South Australians, and ‘Voices of Christmas’ is a perfect example of what we strive for.”

Rundle Mall will of oficially launch the ‘Voices of Christmas’ program at 7pm on Thursday, 14 December featuring a line-up of local talent and an exclusive performance by ‘Voices of Christmas’ Musical Ambassador, Ricki-Lee.

As part of their Christmas campaign, Rundle Mall is proud to be partnering with the Hutt St Centre to support the issue of homelessness in the CBD. Hutt St Centre will have donation sites throughout the Mall, inviting visitors to contribute to this worthy cause and help the Hutt St Centre to provide vital services to vulnerable people during this sometimes difficult time of year.

CIBO Espresso will also be located in the ‘Voices of Christmas’ activation zone and will be donating 50 cents from every coffee purchased during the campaign to the Hutt St Centre.
