As South Australia moves into its sizzling hot summer, taking a dip in a pool is a welcomed treat to cool off from the warmer weather.

Visiting your local community pool for a swim is a great way to get outside and enjoy the sunshine, but as all Australians know, the suns rays are particularly potent in the summertime. To help avoid Adelaidians turning a crispy shade of pink, the Woodside Pool has built a brand new shade spanning half of the 25-metre pool.

The shade, which was completed on Friday, is a welcomed addition to the Adelaide Hills location after the previous one came down in a freak storm in 2016. The new barrel shade was funded by the Adelaide Hills council.

“Everyone’s been very positive, most of our customers are happy it’s back with the hot weather coming in and it suits the centre very nicely,” said pool manager Nick Seager.

While visitors should still slip, slop, slap and pop on a hat to remain safe and sun smart, the new shade means you can take a kick dip without running a chance of getting burnt.

Nestled amongst the stunning Adelaide Hills, the Woodside Pool is the perfect place to visit with the family this summer, with three pools – a toddler paddling pool, an intermediate 12m and the massive 25m advanced pool – a lush lawn to sprawl out on and barbeque facilities to cook up a poolside feast.

The Woodside Pool has tonnes of exciting classes on offer for every member of the family from aqua Zumba and classes for your tiny tots. Watch as your kids learn to swim, as they meander their way from the duckling class, all the way to the stingray and shark certificates.

This summer holidays, the Woodside Pool will also be running two ‘learn to swim’ week-long intensives, one on the first week of the December holidays, and the next on the first week of January.

The new shade at Woodside is the latest pool to be revamped just in time for Summer, with several other wicked paddling pools and swimming sites upgrading for the warmer months. The Tusmore wading pool in Burnside has almost reached its completion, with the highly-anticipated revamp estimated to open in 2022.
