13 new cases of COVID-19 in SA

Thirteen new cases of COVID-19 acquired overnight in South Australia.

Premier Steven Marshall, addressed the South Australian public with an update on Covid-19 cases in the state, revealing a further 13 new positive cases acquired overnight.

Today’s cases are two children, five men aged between 20 and 70, six women aged between 18 and 60.

Of these cases, two acquired their infection overseas, five acquired their infection interstate, four acquired their infection locally and are known contacts of a positive case, and two acquired their infection locally and the source of their infection is yet to be identified.

A woman in her 50s and two men in their 30s remain in the Royal Adelaide Hospital in a stable condition.

The Premier says SA needs to be ready to see such numbers in positive results on a daily basis, as we move into this current phase of the disease.

SA Health will continue to not name all exposure sites if it is deemed of no concern to the public. Premier Marshall says covid-positive cases can contact people they know who were around them, so the lag in exposure sites are not a great issue.

He says SA is moving into a suppression phase of the virus, with the state hopeful that we’ll reach 90% of people fully vaccinated by the end of the year, with 84% currently double dosed.

This comes as Queensland has today opened it’s borders, with Tasmania due to re-open later this week.

SA has had the least amount of days in lockdown so far, with the least amount of restrictions enforced in the country.
