$220k Worth of Scholarships To Be Announced on Facebook

The Trust Company as Trustee will announce the winners of the 2013 Marten Bequest Travelling Scholarships via The Trust Company’s Awards and Scholarships Facebook page – with one category of winners to be announced each morning starting Monday 25 February until Thursday 28 February 2013.

Overall the judges were very pleased with the calibre of applications and therefore The Trust Company has increased the prize pool enabling the judges to award a greater number of the $20,000 scholarships which supports young Australian artists explore and develop their artistic gifts through travel.

The Trust Company is also looking forward to using the popular social media platform to help build a community around the scholarship and help raise the profile of some of Australia’s emerging young artists.

The Marten Bequest Travelling Scholarships were established by John Chisholm Marten (1908 – 1966) to award funding to talented Australians to travel overseas to undertake training and courses to develop their professional skills.

The $20,000 Scholarships are awarded to candidates who show outstanding ability and promise in nine categories offered over alternate years are open to young Australian born artists aged between 21-35 years old (17 for ballet).

From Monday one category of winners will be announced at 9am each morning:

  • Monday 25 February – Acting
  • Tuesday 26 February – Painting
  • Wednesday 27 February – Sculpture
  • Thursday 28 February – Singing

The five remaining categories will be offered later in 2013.
