Historic Adelaide Hotel becomes the beating heart of ADL Fashion Week

A bustling fashion hub will take over a CBD hotel during ADL Fashion Week (AFW).

The Loft at Hotel Richmond is set to transform into a bustling fashion hub during ADL Fashion Week (AFW), running from October 11 to 13, 2024. With the spotlight on Australia’s iconic designers this year, providing a unique platform for both established and emerging talents to showcase their creativity.

Renowned local designer Paolo Sebastian will also make a special appearance, offering an exclusive opportunity to purchase archival couture pieces alongside luxury sustainable brand Yaneth. The exclusive couture sale will see around 30 archival pieces under the hammer that previously have never been available outside his private workshop.

Shoppers can book appointments to explore these exquisite designs, along with special accessories like the ‘Swan Lake’ ballet pumps and silk scarves.

“Couture is an art, and through this event, we celebrate our archival pieces by giving them a new chapter,” said Paolo Sebastian founder Paul Vasileff.

“Each gown embodies the essence of our brand, allowing these designs to shine once more.”

For the first time, Melbourne-based designers Effie Kats and Lana Wilkinson will grace the Adelaide fashion scene, unveiling their ready-to-wear collections and new shoe designs, respectively.

Taking over the stylish Loft lounge at Hotel Richmond, enjoy an immersive experience that captures the essence of each featured brand. With a lineup of designer appearances and ticketed events tailored for both consumers and industry professionals, The Loft is poised to be one of the most anticipated highlights of AFW.

Michael Rossi, Executive Manager of Marketing and Tourism at the Adelaide Economic Development Agency (AEDA), shared the vision behind The Loft.

“This curated space not only showcases local talent like Paolo Sebastian and Yaneth but also introduces new brands to the Adelaide market,” he said.

“By connecting these designers with our community, we create a demand for their products and strengthen our city’s retail landscape.”

This year’s AFW theme emphasizes sustainability and circular fashion, aligning perfectly with the offerings at The Loft.

Effie Kats, a third-generation Greek designer, is thrilled to debut her collection on October 11.

“ADL Fashion Week is a fantastic platform to connect with new audiences and celebrate the art of tailored fashion,” she remarked.

Meanwhile, Lana Wilkinson, celebrated for her stylish footwear, will launch five new shoe styles during the event.

“I can’t wait to share these new designs with Adelaide’s vibrant fashion scene,” she expressed.

The Loft will also host various industry events, including the SA Fashion Industry Association Breakfast and the FASHion.reBORN – Towards Circularity Forum on October 11th. The festival’s finale is the SA Style Wrap Party on October 13, inviting guests to continue the festivities from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM.
