Nicole Bellifemini, an Adelaide mother of four, received a fantastic surprise thanks to the generosity of Mix102.3’s Max & Ali in the Morning. She was gifted a brand-new laptop, which will assist her as she seeks to complete her studies and realise her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse.
About two years ago, a major heart attack suffered by her husband, Maurice, instigated a change of perspective in Nicole. It reminded her of life’s brevity and inspired her to systematically pursue her ambitions. Nicole said, “Going back to studying has been a massive jump. It’s hard, especially when you’ve got work and kids and just life in general.” With her husband’s health scare serving as a harsh reminder of mortality, she was more determined than ever to teach her daughters that you’re never too old to chase your dreams.
Living in Mawson Lakes with their four daughters, Maurice and Nicole have experienced difficulties over recent years. Maurice had to take a nine-month break from work. High living costs forced the family to drain their savings. To exacerbate their hardship, Nicole’s second-hand laptop, initially purchased by her father, recently crashed. Consequently, she could not access her coursework, and she lost a year’s worth of work.
In her predicament, Nicole reached out to Max and Ali to share her story. The duo was moved by her account. They coordinated a response for the Adelaide mother. With the help of Rob Curnow and his team at 1800-GOT-JUNK, they secured a brand-new laptop for her. Overwhelmed by gratitude, a tearful Nicole remarked, “This is just amazing, this has just made my year, my everything!” One of Nicole’s children perfectly captured the significance of this assistance by saying, “I am very proud of mum- she has given up a lot of her time to study and work whilst also caring for us at home.”
Ali had more good news in store for Nicole. A family weekend at Big 4 Holiday Park at West Beach, a pampering session at Clipjoint salon, shopping vouchers from Harbourtown and FRANKIE4, and an exclusive dinner for the couple at the famed Star of Greece restaurant in Port Willunga were all gifted to her. Ali shared, “We’re just so proud of her and know that in no time she’ll be out there changing people’s lives and supporting them like she was supported a few years ago.”
