Adelaide weather forecast for Thursday August 13 and the days ahead

Adelaide is heading into a run of cool, below-average temperatures, patchy showers and cloudy days, with drier weekend conditions before wetter weather returns next week.

Adelaide is in for a cool and fairly grey stretch of weather, with below-average temperatures set to linger right through the weekend before a slightly milder, wetter pattern arrives early next week.

For Thursday, the city is looking at a cloudy day with a medium chance of showers and a top of just 17 degrees. Westerly winds around 15 to 20 km/h will ease by late afternoon, making for a chilly end to the day. Across the suburbs, tops will hover between 15 and 16 degrees, with Mount Barker the coolest spot in the metro forecast.

Friday brings a similar feel, with partly cloudy skies and the chance of a morning shower or two. Another cold start is on the cards with a low of 9 degrees, while the daytime temperature again reaches 17.

The weekend stays subdued but settled. Saturday is expected to be partly cloudy, with only a slight chance of a shower and the possibility of morning fog around the hills. Winds will remain light and Adelaide is forecast to reach 17 degrees after another 9-degree start.

By Sunday, conditions look drier again, with partly cloudy skies, light winds and just a very slim chance of rain. It will be another cold morning, dropping to 8 degrees, before climbing to 17 in the afternoon.

Monday should start mostly sunny before cloud increases later in the day, with a slight chance of a shower developing as easterly winds turn northeasterly. Adelaide is forecast to reach 19 degrees.

Tuesday looks to be the wettest day of the seven-day outlook, with a high chance of showers, possible rainfall of up to 5mm, and a warmer overnight minimum of 12 degrees ahead of a top of 19. Showers are then expected to linger into Wednesday, with another partly cloudy day, a high chance of rain, and up to 6mm possible. Northeasterly winds will shift northerly during the morning, with the temperature easing slightly to a top of 18.

For Adelaide residents, it’s the kind of week that calls for a coat in the morning and a flexible umbrella plan, especially later in the forecast. The persistent run of 17-degree days will keep the city feeling wintry, while the return of showers from Tuesday could make roads slick during peak travel times.
