Aldinga Beach favourite, Pearl, has been named among Australia’s best fish and chips, leading a the line-up of South Australian venues in a national guide celebrating the country’s top seafood spots.

The venue was named alongside ten other South Australian spots in delicious.’ national guide to Australia’s top fish and chip destinations.

The guide highlighted Pearls ‘Future-friendly’ seaside dining, and named standout dishes like the Port Lincoln sardines, Kangaroo Island kingfish, and Coffin Bay oysters.

Bec Seidel, co-owner of Pearl said it was a lovely surprise to see the venue had made the list.

“For us, fish and chips is one of those dishes that everyone knows, so it has to be done really well,” she said.

“We use local, sustainable fish varieties that change with the seasons, lightly battered and cooked to order, with house-made tartare, fresh lemon and a generous herby salad that’s there because it deserves to be, not because every fish and chips needs a token side salad.”

Pearl is harmonious seaside venue run by two locals, Jules Rydon and Bec Seidel, who shared the same dream of opening a seafood restaurant. With the name reflecting its connection to the sea, the duo are clearly making waves when it comes to their food offering.

“I think what makes it stand out is that we approach it the same way we do everything at Pearl,” Bec said.

“We start with really good local produce, keep the cooking simple and let the ingredients speak for themselves.

“It’s familiar, but if it’s done with care, it can still feel special.”
