Clare Valley

An eco-friendly degustation with unreleased wines comes to The Watervale Hotel

Nicola Palmer of the Watervale Hotel and Marnie Roberts of Matriarch & Rouge Wines are hosting the ultimate dining experience for Clare Gourmet Week.

The Watervale Hotel – alongside the hotel’s organic farm, Penobscot Farm – is joining forces with Matriarch & Rouge Wines to deliver a quintessential wining and dining experience for this year’s Clare Valley Gourmet Week.

Nicola Palmer of the Watervale Hotel & Penobscot Farm, and Marnie Roberts of Matriarch & Rouge Wines, are hosting ‘Living Melting Pot’, which will invite guests to explore how the two leading ladies of the region are doing things differently.

As Executive Chef of the Watervale Hotel, Nicola uses only fresh organic produce from Penobscot Farm. The bio-dynamic, organic farm uses permaculture principles, enabling the kitchen at Watervale to serve tasty, seasonal, and ethical dishes all year long.

Penobscot and the Watervale Hotel are both permaculture businesses that endeavour to foster sustainability and self-sufficiency – both in an economic and ecological sense.

As the owner and winemaker of Matriarch & Rouge Wines, Marnie also crafts small batch, eco-friendly, climate appropriate varieties in the Clare region. Both “eco warriors” – one in food and one in wine – the half day event will be a “melting pot” of extraordinary food, wine, and learnings.

The ‘Living Melting Pot’ event includes an organic farm tour with cocktails and canapes, followed by a vineyard visit, barrel tasting, and a long table degustation dinner, accompanied with an exclusive list of unreleased wines.

All food, wine and transport is included within the ticket price. Clare Valley is a stunning destination in the Autumnal months, exploding in exquisite colours of orange and yellow, so don’t miss out on this opportunity for an indulgent weekend.

The thorn amongst the two roses will be Nick Ryan as Master of Ceremonies. He will weave his trademark blend of education, humour, and his own style of verbal roasting.

Nicola and Marnie will give an exclusive insight into their businesses, giving you first-hand knowledge of the land, the history of the hotel, the vineyards, and more. If that wasn’t enough, you’ll also be able to enjoy organic dishes, sip on unreleased wines.
