The 80s are famous for a few things; crimped hair, dirty dancing and of course, fluro everything. But the 80s also marked a special time in Adelaide’s wine history with Chardonnay bursting onto the scene in a big way.
To celebrate this delightful occurrence, a new wine festival was created last year, Chardonnay May, and after its huge success, the event is back again for 2022.
Held throughout the famous Adelaide Hills wine region, a number of events occur throughout the month to pay homage to the incredible Chardonnay produced in the area but one event, in particular, has caught our eye.
The ultimate chardy party is set to be held at the stunning cellar door of Anderson Hill and in honour of the 80s era, you better believe that it’s 80s themed.
For one night only, transport yourself back to that magical era with everything from the outfits to the décor screaming 80s. There’ll be pinball machines, Jane Fonda and Richard Simmons teaching aerobics on the ceiling, lights, DJs playing all your favourite retro hits and of course a dancefloor to show off all your running man and moonwalk skills.
Dressing up is highly encouraged (if not mandatory) and your $55 ticket includes a glass of wine on arrival to kick start your night as well as finger food and nibbles provided throughout the evening. And yes, even the food is 80s themed.
A celebration of all things Chardonnay, this festival means a lot to the team at Anderson Hill with Chardonnay being the grape that they built their reputation on so of course, they are fully embracing Chardonnay May.
