Internationally recognized photographer and light painter Denis Smith is treating Adelaide to his first solo exhibition being held at Espionage Gallery in October, 2012.
Denis purchased his first camera 3 years ago when his life was in turmoil. He found himself in a high pressure sales job, struggling with drink, debt and depression, so he needed to make serious changes before all was lost.
Part of this change included moving to Adelaide and picking up photography as a way to relax and manage stress.
Photography quickly became a release for Denis and he soon developed his own style of long exposure night photography. Something that started out as a hobby has rapidly turned into a popular form of art which he has named ‘Ball of Light’.
Denis now has many international followers who find his personal story to be uplifting and inspiring, providing hope for people wanting to make a positive change in their own lives. The Ball of Light is featured in many publications overseas, including the KLM Inflight Magazine, UK’s Digital Camera Magazine, plus a TV interview in Germany with Red Bull Media Group. The popularity of Denis’s work has lead him to also publish his own quarterly glossy magazine featuring news about the Ball of Light project.
The exhibition is a cumulation of Denis’s three year photographic journey, a celebration of turning his life around and finding inner peace. An impressive collection of Denis’s best Ball of Light work captured during his travels to Cambodia, Europe and around our beautiful state of South Australia.
Simply not to be missed…see Espionage Gallery transformed into a space of wonder and surrealism with the “Ball of Light”.
