A long-running family yiros business in Campbelltown has expanded into the dessert scene, launching a new in-store acai brand called Kim’s Acai.
Operating from their well-known Yiros shop at 610 Lower North East Road, the new venture officially soft-launched last week, offering customers a range of customisable acai bowls alongside the venue’s popular yiros menu.
The concept was born from owner Kim’s vision to bring together dinner and dessert under one roof.
“We wanted people to be able to have their main meal and dessert at the same place,” laughed his wife Hadicha.
The acai offering follows extensive research by the family, who sampled products from numerous stores before settling on a Brazilian-sourced acai supplied through NSW-based distributor Amazon Power. No sneaky added ingredients, no unnecessary sugar. As Hadicha said, they did their homework.
Customers can choose from a variety of toppings, including Nutella, Kinder Bueno and Biscoff, with the menu focused on popular flavours while the team gauges customer favourites during the early stages of the launch.
“All the favourite ones that kids like these days,” Hadicha laughed.
Speaking of kids, the business remains very much a family affair. The Kim’s Açai branding was inspired by artwork created by the owners’ son, a graphic design student, who took original sketches of his Dad and turned them into the newest logo of their new venture. Spend five seconds with owner Kim and his infectious energy, and you’ll understand why he’s the perfect poster boy for this fun, family-focused brand.
While the açai menu is currently keeping things simple, the family hopes to expand the offering in the future with additions such as waffles, juices and other dessert options. For now, however, the focus remains on introducing the concept to customers and building on the loyal following the family has developed over more than 20 years in the yiros industry.
