Century-old local business named ‘Australia’s Champion Jeweller’ & ‘SA’s Most Outstanding Jeweller’ in double award win

Bell & Brunt Jewellers has been recognised with major state and national awards, celebrating more than a century of handcrafted excellence, trusted service and family-owned craftsmanship in Adelaide.

For more than 106 years, Adelaide locals have trusted Bell & Brunt Jewellers with some of life’s biggest milestones. Now, that legacy has been celebrated with the family-owned business taking out double honours in state and national awards.

The Adelaide jeweller was named Australia’s Champion Jeweller at the 2026 Australian Small Business Champion Awards, and South Australia’s Most Outstanding Jeweller at the South Australian Local Business Awards.

The achievement is particularly significant because the two awards recognise very different strengths. The Australian Small Business Champion Awards are independently judged, assessing craftsmanship, customer experience, innovation, leadership and business operations. This year, Bell & Brunt was selected from 13 jeweller finalists from across the country.

As for the South Australian Local Business Awards, they are driven by community nominations and customer support, recognising the experience clients have with the business firsthand.

Together, the awards acknowledge what happens behind the scenes and the customer experience in store.

“This recognition means a great deal to us,” shared Cheri Brunt, CEO of Bell & Brunt Jewellers. “But more importantly, it reflects the trust our clients place in us during some of life’s most meaningful moments. That’s something we never take lightly.”

Founded in 1919, Bell & Brunt has grown from a small home-based jewellery repair business into what is now recognised as one of Australia’s oldest solely hand-designing and hand-making family jewellers. Still operating from its Adelaide studio, the fifth-generation business continues to create every piece by hand using traditional bench-made techniques.

While some of the jewellery industry has embraced computer-aided design and mass production, Bell & Brunt has remained committed to handcrafted jewellery made by master jewellers using premium materials selected for longevity. The approach has become one of the business’s defining characteristics that keeps customers returning.

“We’ve always focused on doing things properly, taking the time, guiding our clients, and creating pieces that carry meaning,” said Cheri. “These awards simply reinforce the standard we hold ourselves to every day.”

In the last 106 years, Bell & Brunt has helped clients design engagement rings, wedding bands, remodel treasured heirlooms and create bespoke jewellery to celebrate life’s most special moments.

Bell & Brunt has also become known for its personalised approach, with clients guided through the design process by master jewellers, designers and gemmologists in what the business describes as an experience built around trust rather than sales.

Over the years, the Adelaide business has remained closely connected to the local community, supporting organisations including the Childhood Cancer Association, Cystic Fibrosis SA, The Hospital Research Foundation and a range of schools, charities and fundraising initiatives across South Australia.

Bell & Brunt’s double win is a reminder that some of Australia’s top craftsmanship continues to be created right here at home, by a family business that has spent more than a century proving that quality, tradition and genuine care never go out of style.

But as national recognition comes, the team says the focus remains on the customer. “Awards are wonderful, but what matters most is the experience we create for every client who walks through our doors. That’s what we’re most proud of,” said Cheri.
