CIBO Piazza, The Romance Of Italy

CIBO North Adelaide store owners, Claude and Oriana, celebrate the launch of CIBO Paizza

CIBO Espresso’s Melbourne Street store celebrated the romance of Roman piazzas with the evening launch of CIBO Piazza, on Monday 24 January, at the Melbourne Street, North Adelaide store.

The Italian espresso bar took a step back in time as the CIBO Piazza came to life with the passion and romance famously associated with the cafes of Roman piazzas.

A key element of the CIBO Piazza is CIBO Cinema, where classic Italian films such as Life is Beautiful and Fellini’s La Dolce Vita, are now being played on a projector onto a roll-down screen at dusk from Tuesdays to Saturdays.

A holiday to Italy with family and friends inspired store owners Oriana and Claude Piscioneri to recreate the ambiance of Italian piazzas at their Melbourne Street store.

“While travelling through Italy we really enjoyed how piazzas were such a focal point for socialising,” Oriana said.

“It was fantastic how everyone came together in the piazza in the evening, it was a real meeting place for people of all ages.

“Piazzas are the heart of every Italian town. We wanted to recreate this sense of community in North Adelaide with CIBO Piazza.

“CIBO Espresso is founded on community, family and friends. Many of our customers become like family and CIBO Piazza runs true to our vision.”

Guests at last week’s launch included CIBO North Adelaide locals, Australian Olympic and Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist cyclist Anna Meares, and renowned Australian composer Graham Koehne.

A collection of 1960s Vespas and Alfas set the scene for the event, with guests entertained by a wandering piano accordion player, and the CIBO Cinema.

To top off the evening CIBO Espresso staff, dressed as bello Roman waiters, served aperitivi, tastings of CIBO’s new summer menu followed by CIBO’s signature artisan gelati.

“CIBO Cinema will be a unique outdoor experience. We will be featuring classic Italian movies starring the likes of Sophia Loren and Gina Lollabrigida,” Oriana said.

The  program for the nightly movies, which run from Tuesdays to Saturdays, are listed on the CIBO Espresso Facebook page and begin each night at dusk (approximately 8.15pm).

CIBO Espresso is a classic Italian espresso bar established in Adelaide in 2000, which was born from a passion for authentic, quality Italian food and coffee. Today, CIBO Espresso has a presence in Adelaide and Brisbane with a total of 18 locations, with plans for further expansion in the future.
