A playful new cafe serving chicken tikka Benedict, pistachio kunafa pancakes and sizzling cheeseburgers is preparing to open in Royston Park.
Go-Ssip is taking over the former Marbella Espresso & Panini Bar site on Battams Road, bringing an extensive modern Australian brunch menu with flavours drawn from cuisines around the world.
The cafe is the latest venture from Sam, who took over popular Plympton cafe Faar Farr Away ten months ago and is also preparing to open another Farr Farr Away location in Hahndorf.
While Faar Farr Away is known for its Asian-inspired brunch dishes, Sam said Go-Ssip would have a different identity.
“It’s modern Australian, but with a bit of fusion from here and there,” Sam said.
“It’s not fully Asian fusion, like Faar Farr Away.”
The Go-Ssip menu will cover plenty of familiar cafe favourites, including pancakes, burgers, bagels, salads and traditional breakfast dishes, but many will arrive with an unexpected twist.
“One of the signature dishes is going to be the chicken tikka Benedict. I don’t think anyone else is doing that in Adelaide,” Sam said.
Other standout dishes will include pistachio kunafa pancakes, sizzling cheeseburgers, chilli tofu scramble and a selection of bagels filled with options such as crispy chicken and smoked bacon.
Those after something lighter will be able to choose from dishes including a salmon nourish bowl and falafel salad bowl.
The cafe will also cater to a wide range of dietary requirements, with several vegan and gluten-free options planned alongside a separate children’s menu.
Coffee will come from renowned Melbourne roaster Saint Ali, adding another point of difference for the new neighbourhood venue.
Sam, who continues to spend much of his time working in the kitchen, had been looking for another location and was previously close to opening a venue in Adelaide’s CBD before securing the Royston Park site.
He said the response from nearby residents had already been encouraging, with people regularly approaching the team while work was underway.
“It’s got a fabulous location,” he said,
“Whenever we are we are on site, I see the neighbours are excited. They come and greet us, and they say we definitely needed something here.”
With a large menu, specialty coffee and a prominent neighbourhood location, Go-Ssip is preparing to give Royston Park locals a fresh place to meet for breakfast, lunch and, naturally, a little gossip.
