Ever wanted to make a Turkish mosaic lamp that beautifully glows each time you light it up? Love in Istanbul are running workshops to make your own small table lamp, candle holder or genie lamp.
Mosaic lamps have a long history originating 5000 years ago in Turkey and traditionally incorporated the colours and motifs of the Ottoman cultures.
Turkish artists have delicately handcrafted these lamps since ancient times and the art of Mosaic lamps continue today with a wide variety of designs. Now, it’s your chance to get creative and have fun making your own.
“People can choose which lamp style or candle holder they would like to make and then we walk them through the project step by step. Those in the workshop will use an array of cut glass and beads to bring their unique design to life,” class facilitator Gül says.
“It’s a fully immersive experience. There will be mesmerising music in the background of the fully refurbished studio which is packed with glowing lamps.”
During the workshop, you’ll be served complimentary traditional apple tea, moreish delights and a free Turkish towel (next lot of classes only).
